Dock to audio perfection

London, England – Every element of the new Fidelio DS9000 sound dock exists to guarantee pure, audiophile sound. Philips has chosen to use the highest quality natural materials and top-grade components together in an acoustically designed and striking cabinet to ensure that, with the DS9000, all voices and instruments are reproduced naturally and accurately, free from coloration or distortion.

              

 

The design of the DS9000 dock also perfectly demonstrates that form and function can co-exist beautifully enhanced by the use of natural materials such as sustainably sourced wood.

 

The cabinet has been constructed using Veneer Lamination technology normally reserved for high-end furniture. The process involves gluing together multiple layers of lacquered ply wood to a depth of 12mm and then forming or bending them into a specific curved shape.

 

 

The natural stiffness and shape of the construction reduce unwanted vibrations to a minimum while minimising the creation of internal reflections and standing waves. The large curved edges of The DS9000’s baffle also help to reduce sound diffraction as sound waves reach the edge of the dock.

 

Unlike many docks which only accept an analogue input from the Apple connector, the DS9000 uses Philips’ PureDigital sound processing technology to accept a digital input to ensure all processing is handled digitally, direct from an iPod or iPhone. The result is a much higher signal-to-noise ratio ensuring sound is not tainted or distorted in any way. The processing is then followed by audiophile quality digital-to-analogue conversion.

 

The drivers are of the highest quality with two 1” low distortion, dual ring-radiator diaphragm tweeters made from silk and copper clad aluwire to give light weight and fast, accurate response. The tweeters also feature central wave guides to ensure wide and consistent dispersion.

 

Two high efficiency, 4 “ inverted dome woofers allow high bass output relative the size of the cabinet which is physically divide to add rigidity and to give each set of drivers their own, separate 3.4 litre chamber.

 

An audiophile grade passive crossover ensures that only the relevant frequencies are sent to the respective drivers and further ensures a clean sound with more precise separation and a performance faithful to the original.

 

At the rear of the DS9000, the precisely tuned bass pipes ensure that the bass is deep whilst tight. The pipes, along with the elongated slot, are beautifully highlighted by the highly polished, chrome-plated centre.

 

The sound can be tweaked and adapted with the free Fidelio+ app for iPhone and iPod touch. This provides five preset equaliser options allowing the sound to be customised depending on what type of music is being listened to. The DS9000 also works as an alarm clock allowing gentle awakening via a choice of multiple alarms or music played through the speaker dock.

 

The Fidelio DS9000 dock comes with an easy flexible mounting system compatible with any iPod or iPhone, whether in a case or not. And lastly the dock also features a proximity sensor lighting up and activating the controls when you approach the dock.

 

Of course if you wish to stay seated, the stylish remote allows full control over the dock and the music from your iPod or iPhone.
