Philips highlights power of population health management technology at American Telemedicine Association Conference

 

Philips executives and customers discuss telehealth and predictive analytics successes

Amsterdam, The NetherlandsRoyal Philips (NYSE: PHG AEX: PHIA) today announced its participation in the American Telemedicine Association’s Annual Telemedicine Meeting & Trade Show (ATA 2016) to be held May 14-17 in Minneapolis, Minn. During the event, Philips will engage with attendees through panels and presentations showcasing recent results from Philips’ population health management efforts, including its telehealth programs and predictive analytics engine, CareSage. As the transition to value-based care continues to drive an increasing number of health IT challenges, Philips aims to address these needs with innovative connected health solutions to help providers better manage the unique needs of their patient populations.

Using Technology to Better Manage Populations with Chronic Conditions

As part of the conference agenda, Philips executives, partners, and customers will share recent results and weigh in on challenges facing the industry. These events include:

 

  • “Tele-COPD Programs Demonstrating Reduced Readmissions Cost Savings” Case Study Presentation Panel
    Amy Day and Karen Butterton of Barnes Healthcare Services, a Philips customer, will present a case study on using telehealth to manage COPD, a chronic condition that impacts more than 24 million Americans1. The session will be held on Monday, May 16, 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in Room 200CD.
  • “Retrospective Evaluation of Philips Lifeline CareSage Predictive Model on Patients of Partners Healthcare at Home” Poster Presentation
    Sara B Golas, MA, Senior Data Specialist for Partners Connected Health, Data Science & Analytics, will share findings from a retrospective evaluation on Philips Lifeline’s predictive analytics tool, CareSage. The study, which analyzed over 3,000 subjects, highlights the risk factors associated with emergency transport and the role that medical alert devices can play in improving clinical outcomes. The session will be held on Monday, May 16, 10:10 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. in the ATA Experience Zone.
  • “Addressing the Needs of Patients With Multiple Chronic Conditions Through a Comprehensive Telehealth Program” Panel Discussion
    Philips executive Brian Rosenfeld, MD, will speak alongside longtime Philips customer, Deb Dahl, MBA, BSE of Banner Health on a panel which will address the struggle health care systems face as they seek to provide care for a growing population. The panel will focus on how to integrate telehealth technology into programs effectively to meet the needs of this unique population. The panel will be held on Monday, May 16, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Room 200CD.


Solutions for Connecting Care through Continuous Health

In its booth (#1725), Philips will spotlight its full suite of telehealth programs, including critical, acute and ambulatory care programs. As part of these demonstrations, Philips will showcase its applications for at-home patient monitoring, including the newly released eCareCoordinator 1.4 application which extends its population health management capabilities. With the addition of LanguageLync, the FDA 510(k) cleared application now supports delivery of surveys in 32 languages to patients using eCareCompanion, enabling care teams to work more closely with 99.9% of the US population. The update also adds behavioral science-based educational videos to support at-home care for heart failure and diabetes patients, as well as readmissions reporting that enables teams to easily mine outcomes data to gain insights around patient outcomes and identify coaching opportunities to reduce readmissions.


The booth will also highlight:

  • At-home patient monitoring apps including the eCareCompanion for remote patient monitoring and DreamMapper, a patient engagement tool for sleep apnea patients that has shown a 22% increase in adherence to therapy2;
  • eCareCoordinator population triage dashboard;
  • CareSage, a predictive analytics solution to help identify patients at risk for ER transport in any upcoming 30 days;
  • Medical alert services;
  • Medication management solutions;
  • Personal Health Solutions, including the Philips health watch, Bluetooth-enabled blood pressure monitors, connected body analysis scale, and ear thermometer;
  • Two Philips customers will discuss their successful applications of Philips telehealth programs:  Advanced ICU Care in St. Louis, MO, and Banner Health in Phoenix, AZ.
