Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible packaging and poor website. I have just bought one of these and it's still in the unopened box - I came home with it because I was stood in the shop dithering because this model looked like a better one (at a reduced price) than the S5130/6 I went to buy after researching on the internet. My problem was that the product information on both boxes was so brief that a sensible comparison was impossible. The shop assistant found this product on the shops website which gave no more information and Phillips website is similarly abysmal. I key fact I wished to find was whether this product can be used 'corded as' well as well as 'cordless'. I've spent 45 minutes looking and I'm still no wiser. The only useful thing I have gleaned is Phillip's UK phone number - 0207 940240 - which was buried in the response to another review. I will ring tomorrow to ask the question again and if I don't get a useful answer the shaver is going back to the shop!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good For The Money Have been using this for 14 months and have had great use. It takes several minutes to have a decent shave but it's pretty good for the money. However I've just had a strange experience with it. I had finished a charge cycle when it cut out straight after turning on. I was able to switch it on again after a few minutes and this happened again before apparently working normally. When I finished I switched it off and left it on its stand. Sometime later I went to the bathroom and found the shaver running on the stand !!! Spooky !!! Fortunately I have a 2 year guarantee with John Lewis so if it happens again I'll take it back to them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good results with this product I am liking this shaver, have tried it dry and wet and I do prefer a wet shave with it. Seems less harsh on skin. Either way though it performs well and gets closer than conventional wet shave with manual razor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from shaver This product replaced the same older model, from which I had years of good service. this replacement shaver appears to be just as good with some improvements.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use and gentle on your skin My overall review is good, I was not suprised since the product have not changed that much since my first shaver from mid nineties. The design is better, the shaver is waterproof and blades are more gentle towards your skin. And why change a good product? No, the product it self doesn't need to be amended but the overall experience can through packaging. To summarise, imagine if the iPhone would be packaged in a box 10 times its actual size with bad paper and a lot of unnecessary information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shaver Normally a wet shaver, I have had a rotary shaver in the past which was great but eventually gave up the ghost. I replaced it with a foil one which tugged and pulled and basically done anything but shave! A few years back I received a new foil shaver as a gift and it was just the same as the old one so I went back to the trusty old blade and brush. I always had a hankering to try another rotary one though and when I saw the favourable reviews, I bought this one. What a difference! It shaves almost as close as a new blade and is almost silent in operation. As yet I have only used it dry but I'm sure with some lubricant it will be even better. I still use the blade an odd time but this has became my go to shaver. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2nd review after using it for longer period It works much better when you use the phillips oil spray can stuff every week or so, this device has changed my shaving habits completely. I always looked badly unshaven coz admittedly normal shaving was a chore until i got this shaver for xmas. Shaves good still even when i have once unshaven for about a week nearly. The brushes that come with it are proper handy when cleaning it. Best present ive had in a long time. Last time i wrote saying i had kept getting a bad neck rash from using it, that has now stop i think it was the case of just getting used to it coz previous to using it i was a regular shaver so my skin obviously wasnt used to the blades. Everyone saying its a rubbish shaver, but if they did what the product manual said by doing small circle rotations, repeatedly it definately definately works. Takes pratice, like the first time using a normal razor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product is perfectly adequate for an every day shaver. The main weakness is the extremely long battery charge time, 8 hours for such a small battery is scandalous when you can get smart phones and power tools which fully charge in less than a quarter of the time. The other weakness is the stupid little cleaning brush which it comes with, to provide a more a more useful one would only cost a few pence. This shaver was supplied under warranty as my previous one stopped working, something to do with the notification that the shaver heads needed replacing. All credit to Phillips for sending a replacement, but why we need notifying the shaver heads need replacing I have no idea, other than to sell us replacement parts. This is trivia which could be done away with.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good razor but short life span This is now my second Philips shaver. The last one was replaced after about 18 months by Phillips in August 2014, however as I had purchased a different razor because of the first one not working I carried on using it. I started using the replacement razor from Philips about a year ago, and recently it started to show the same faults as the original had, it would not start, after a recharge it would only run for a few seconds and stop, the red light flashes for a couple of seconds, then after washing it out and putting it back in the cupboard it started all by its self and would not turn off. I keep trying it and now it will not do anything, It is now unusable. I have followed all the user instructions and generally look after my things well. I expect more from products purchased from a company such as Philips.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ageing but still great I have had this shaver for two or three years now, and it still gives a really close shave. Using wet and dry method gives me the closest shave to a wet razor shave. This is not a new model on the market, but I would recommend it. I have upgraded to the 900 series, and this shaver runs the newer version very closely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Typically sturdy Philips design and manufacture. A neat product. It initially seemed less sharp than my older model, but it works very well and gives a good, satisfying shave. The facility for shaving with foam is interesting - I would have thought that this would be a bit messy, so I haven’t yet tried it. I hope that it lasts as long as my previous Philips shaver.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love to shave now! Got a brill deal on this shaver (but feel it may have been returned to the store I got it from). Charged it up and started a shave. To my surprise, it was very quiet compared to my old shaver and I thought it was actually faulty or undercharged. However, it is just normally quiet and it immediately gave a great close shave. A couple of days later, I did the wet shave thing and it shaved even closer. I now look forward to shaving (oddly enough) and to spending time wetting face, putting shaving foam or gel on and shaving wet. Overall, its not as close as a good blade (I always shave the chin area very close when playing snooker so the cue glides along a smooth chin), but its not far off and perfect for everyday shaving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Far exceeded past memories of electric shavers After using a razor for 35 years and only a brief trial with electric when a teenager. I can only report amazing results from this AquaTouch. It was the doctors advice that prompted the change, albeit for a short period, to an electric shaver. The usual search on the internet brought up quite a few options but the Philips brand stood out as a sure bet. Straight out of the box it felt good in the hand, it was already charged and ready to go, and it even came with a cleaning brush. Not wanting to face the terrors of a dry shave I opted to use it as a wet shaver, and the results were amazing. Easy to use, clean fresh shave with almost all areas of the face easily reachable with the triple rotating head. After three months of use I am totally satisfied with it and may not revert to wet shaving ever again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent shaver aat a reasonable price. I have used Phillips shavers for years. My only reservation about this one is that I found it difficult to clean properly. Reassembling after cleaning took me a while. I have very poor eyesight. I was surprised that it was sent from India and made in China
