Rated 4 out of 5 by freakfire from Easy to use, can't wait to see results I was lucky to be picked to host a Come Round party to try this product and have been using it over the past couple of weeks. I was very excited as I didn't fancy the salon IPL sessions due to the cost and inconvenience of having to travel to a salon, and had seen home IPL products but don't know anyone who has used them. So having the chance for myself and my friends to test it has been amazing. I have only done one proper session with this, on my armpits (in addition to a few quick test goes elsewhere), with the next due this weekend, so can't yet comment on results so far, but I found the Lumea to be easy to use, well-designed in the gun format so it is easy to hold and press, plus the large green strip light is very helpful so you know when it has full skin contact and is ready for the next press and flash. This product caused a lot of excitement among my friends - even the boys! - and everyone was keen to have a go with it. Everyone, myself included, was quite surprised by how easy and pretty much painless it was on most body areas. It was a little uncomfortable on my underarms, but that was done just after shaving, on a sensitive skin area, and it was more like an intense heat than pain, plus was not a problem and didn't deter me at all. It was almost reassuring as it was easier to know which areas had been targeted before moving on to the next. I found it easy to use and manoeuvre around, and it is helpful to have the 2 different-sized attachments, although I have only used the larger one so far. I found the instructions easy to follow too, although the quickstart guide should perhaps contain a bit more detail in terms of where not to use it (e.g. recently tanned skin, moles) to match the full instruction book. The guide to skin tone and hair colour was helpful and easy to use. I have dark hair and quite light skin (tanned arms aside), so have been using it on 4/5 setting (which was the setting for most of my friends who tried it, coincidentally). I was pleased to read that the battery charge lasts for hundreds of flashes, as charging beauty products every week or so can be a nuisance, plus it didn't seem to take long to charge for its first use, which was a pleasant surprise. The charge indicator light is also very helpful (if only all products came with these!). I was also pleased at how quick it is to do a 'session', especially on the underarms, which is where I really want to test it out. As the guide says, it takes literally just a couple of minutes, and having the sessions 2 weeks apart for the first few weeks seems like a perfectly acceptable schedule. It would still take longer than shaving for larger areas such as the legs, but then the time savings would add up after a while anyway as there are fewer and fewer hairs to deal with, plus it is probably faster than epilating - and a lot less painful! It is just a shame re the tanning limitations as a product like this would mostly be wanted for summertime and sunny days, but next year I can be prepared and start using it well before summer so my legs and armpits are ready. I am really looking forward to seeing the results, especially on my underarms as shaving doesn't offer satisfactory results in that region due to my having dark hair, and waxing/epilating there would just be too painful. I am really hoping that this will solve my problems and give me beautiful armpits that I'm happy to show off, and giving me the freedom to wear summer tops and dresses with much more confidence, as well as being much less hassle in terms of body care.
