Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish! Last steam generator iron I had was a Bosch - it lasted 5 years and was brilliant. Unfortunately, it has now been discontinued so I bought the Philips PerfectCare as I liked the minimalist design. It's absolutely useless. The automatic steam function is rubbish as water leaks out all the time and causes streaks on whatever I am ironing and it doesn't get hot enough. The leaking was so bad I thought it was faulty so after a couple of weeks of ownership - took it back to be replaced. It was sent away for 2 weeks (so I had to buy a cheap hand held iron to tide me over during that time). I have now got it back and it's exactly the same. I was so frustrated ironing that I came to my computer to write this review!! Don't buy one or you'll spend your time writing angry reviews like this one!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing 'must have' product I never ever thought I would enjoy doing the ironing! It is now so quick and easy. Everything is just perfect, the large 1.7 litre - easy to fill - water tank, the long cord and steam tube, the smooth iron plate, not having to worry about any settings or what item to choose next - you can just work through the pile super fast. I love it! It is set up and ready to go in just a couple of minutes. Masses of super duper steam. No worries if I get called away for any reason - automatically turns itself off. It took a little while to get used to leaving the iron laying down on the board and the continuous steam leaves a wet patch on the ironing board but small niggles out-weighed heavily by all the amazing results in my ironing pile. I even offer to iron for family members now. I haven't had to do the descale yet but it looks pretty easy to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ironing made easy Although there was no specific instructions on setting up this iron for the first time, I found it incredibly easy to figure out everything I needed to for my first time use of a steam generator iron. The cables are plenty long enough, the water tank holds plenty of water for a full basket of washing, and the iron itself is a good weight with a comfortable grip on the handle. It has made my ironing much easier as it glides well and because I control the steam I find I only need to iron once over instead of several times as I did with my old regular iron. There is only 1 temperature needed for all types of material as well, so there is no need to sort my ironing or wait for the iron to cool down. Simply put this has halved my ironing time so I would highly recommend this iron.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic performance on all fabrics. I was slightly overawed when I took the product from its box because of the size but was soon impressed by the ease of setting it up and understanding the features. I took my time and tested it over several weeks so I could give all the manufacturers claims a fair test. I must say Philips have once again cornered the market with this iron. The steam is incredibly powerful, even vertically, so it may be used with ease on hanging curtains or clothes. There is no need to adjust the temperature as the iron adapts to whatever fabric you're doing. Plus, if, like me you worry about burning items then worry no more as you can leave the iron on the clothes and walk away without risk of scorching. All in all a state of the art product which makes ironing a pleasure rather than a chore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great iron - I actually look forward to the ironing! ! I absolutely love this iron has made my life so much easier i found it different at first as there are no dials on the iron and you don't need to adjust the temperature depending on the material of the clothing The iron takes 2 minutes to heat up fully and a buzzing sound indicates that the iron is ready to use. This iron has a large tank i dont need to refill in between my ironing. This is helped with the fact that the iron has an ECO mode which reduces the amount of steam used. It is really easy to iron as it is lightweight and you feel comfortable with the iron in your hand. I have also found it to be less bulky than my previous steam generated iron. The only downside is that the power lead is short and not as long as I'd hoped. I would recommend this iron to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best iron I've ever used! This iron is amazing! You would not be disappointed! It really does glide across your clothes. Ironing is effortless! I love the fact that you don't need to alter any temperatures - this feature really does work! I've ironed lots of different items of different material and each item is perfect every time! The water tank is a brilliant size, and the anti-calc self clean feature is a real bonus. I am also really impressed with the auto-shut off feature - you can leave your iron on the board, and should you have to dash off for a minute, you can relax knowing it cuts off! Very clever iron that really is a joy to use! I've had other steam generator irons in the past and this is by far the best I've ever used. You would not be disappointed buying this iron.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ease of Ironing As an ex Soldier, I insist on my ironing being to perfection, and this is the Iron I wish I'd had during my service, The Iron, considering its size is lightweight. The Optimaltemp technology is a superb feature, allowing ironing, as it is on all types of fabric with having to change settings. The steam function allows the iron to cut through the creases 1st time without having to keep going over the item that is being ironed. Although I buy Ironing water rather than tap water, the water tank size is great and saves time having by not having to keep refilling it. With the ease of use and the power of this iron, I certainly seem to be saving time on ironing a family of four's weekly clothing. I would certainly recommend this iron to any of my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BUY ONE This iron will totally transform your approach to ironing. The iron is easy to use, adjusts itself to your clothing. You do not need to sort out your clothing into piles according to heat tolerance. The ionised water is easy to purchase and cheaper that a previous brand I was using. I find myself looking for things to iron because I simply do not want to switch the iron off. It has literally halved my ironing time. Ironing items appear professionally pressed. I would have no hesitation is recommending this product. It is definitely worth saving to purchase you would not be disappointed. The iron fits on my ironing board easily. You do not have to adjust settings, ect depending on what you are ironing you just "iron and go". It is really that simply.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a revolutionary product for the daily chore of ironing but has limits I think the world of this iron but its brilliance is also the thing that stops it being perfect. It has no heat control, and benefits from being able to iron without adjustment, any garment without scorching or sticking. However through necessity, I have to tumble dry many cotton shirts and these just need more heat to get rid of those wrinkles. Also the iron regularly spits water out over the garments I am ironing and because of the moderate heat setting this takes some time to iron dry. This of course could be a faulty part within the iron. I think this would be perfect if it had a boost button whereby for the odd times you need extra heat you could boost for a short period of time before reverting to the standard temperature automatically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic allrounder, excellent quality! By far the best quality iron I have ever used. It is very easy to set up and heats up in no time. The large capacity of the water tank is ideal for long ironing sessions. The tiny little downside to this is that it needs more storage space, but having no water refills makes up for it. It's also a real lightweight to handle, which your wrists will appreciate. As a wife and mother of two young boys I have endless loads of washing every week and the PerfectCare Viva has proven to be a real time saver for me. Anything from bulky jeans to delicate blouses, it glides its way to perfection every time without the hassle of temperature changes. I absolutely love it, you couldn't wish for more from your iron! I would happily recommend this to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Iron I've had one steam generator iron before this and standard irons prior to that. This is much better than my previous one, much more compact in size, lighter looks better and generally works better. The fact that it's one button to turn it on and away you go is perfect. No turning temperature dials for each garment. The amount of steam isn't as powerful as I'd like but it just takes an extra second to flatten out any garment. Safety cut off works perfect. The iron can be left sitting flat when moving garments. Cables are kept tidy on the stand when not in use. Water filler spout is big enough and the tank is a generous size as well. Great product, would recommend to anyone new to steam generators or veterans alike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect Iron for all items. I iron so much during the week, I actually find it relaxing. Over the years I have gone through many irons from different brands but never had one that was so easy to use. To go from ironing jeans to silk shirts to polycotton sheets to linen, without having to alter the temperature is amazing and so time saving. Why have I never come across an iron like this before, I love the ease so much so I have started ironing bedding sheets too. My time spent ironing has cut down with using this, it really is a great iron and a plus is how light it is to use, some irons are heavy and cumbersome this iron is light and glides smoothly. The iron also self cleans so easily and comes with a special tray too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Let's face it ironing is a necessary evil. It's the household chore I hate the most so when I tried out this iron I was thrilled for it to cut my ironing time by half. I dry my clothes inside mostly (due to our british weather) and this can leave them with stubborn creases. Fill up the iron and turn it on, go and fetch the ironing basket and by the time you come back it will have heated up and ready to use. no fiddly dails to adjust the temp for different garments as the iron can be used on them. If filled up to the max it lasts for around 45 mins of ironing. I have also used it for steaming garments like a formal dress and a friends bridesmaid dresses. In conclusion I love this iron!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Completely mis-sold! Doesn't iron out creases. The auto temperature, 'optimaltemp' as Philips call it, is a marketing ploy - it cannot even get creases out of shirts and guess what, you can't even turn it up because there's no function to change it. Steam system is awful - lukewarm drinks steam more. All those positive reviews below are by Philips themselves - it's all regurgitated directly from the manual / advertising itself. Please do not waste your money on this product - it really is dire. I've never left a review for any other product before; that's how bad this one is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product makes ironing more enjoyable I have been using this iron for a month now every single day. Being a mum of an 8 months old baby I have lots of washing and ironing to do. PerfectCare Viva steam generator iron just made it easier for me. The pointed soul plate helps me to iron my baby clothes properly and the volume of steam just makes ironing quicker and more enjoyable. What I like about this iron is that I don't need to worry about water marks on my clothes any more, no need to leave my clothes to dry after ironing them as I had to do with my old iron. The big water tank is a plus as well , keeps me going for the hole lot of ironing. Overall very good product, strongly recommend, it's worth all money.
