Philips Kettle HD4671/20 1.7 l 3000 W 1 cup indicator Brushed metal Spring lid is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 100.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good looking but has a weak on/off switch The kettle suits our kitchen décor, with grey worktops, particularly well Though quite heavy it is easy to fill to the required level. It boils quite quickly. Its weak point is the on/off switch - we have had two failures within the guarantee period. In both cases Philips replaced the faulty kettle without dispute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Teething problem Had to take the kettle back to store that l purchased a fortnight ago as the blue illumination light had gone caput! Swapped with no hassle, early days but seems new one OK so far. Nice, quiet kettle but a tad on the cumbersome/heavy side when full.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice design I thought, great looking kettle. It was what I was looking for. within a week it had stopped cutting off when boiled. Don't think this is very good. I am quite disappointed as I have used Phillips products for years, on reputation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Robust Product This kettle is a free replacement for a HD4644/00 that had a faulty switch after 22 months use. It is very robust but is also rather heavy to lift when full. My wife can only use if using both hands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great kettle let down by the see thru window Good kettle in all respects but for the see thru panel on the lid which has crumbled to nothing this morning! I've just been in touch with the help desk team and will update the review to see if they are able to help.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not up to Philips standard Nice looking kettle, however after boiling the kettle could not re boil for a considerable time after . The on/off switch would not stay down. Also the water tasted awful, for the few days we had it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good kettle weak point the switch very good kettle, but the weak part is the switch, a small piece of plastic that covers the light, when that snaps a perfectly good kettle is rendered useless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent well made kettle You can boil as little as one cup of water in this kettle and it boils very quickly. Great looking kettle too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent buy A stylish, quiet and fast boiling kettle, superior to more expensive kettles that I have had in the past.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broken spring in lid renders kettle unusable Thought the original kettele we bought had failed rather quickly, but mistakenly thought that a company like Philips would not design such a poor quality item and assumed it was a 'One off'. Replaced it with the same. Now, just over 2 years since the replacement's purchase, once again one of the springs in the lid has fallen out. The plastic 'boss' to which it was secured has broken. This is rubbish for what was a relatively expensive kettle. I shall not be buying Philips products again, unless they can offer something better than "there's a 2-year warranty" rather than addressing a problem that has, apparently, been around for years. I wish I'd read the generally poor reviews previously.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good Kettle with a design flaw We've had this kettle a few years now and its been great, you can boil the right amount of water so it's very efficient. It was bought because the previous Philips kettle lasted around 12 years and so we wanted a similar quality item. As many have said below, the problem is that the plastic strip in the lid becomes brittle and breaks, then the entire kettle has to be replaced as there is no replacement part available. This part must cost a few pennies to make and replacing it would take all of 2 minutes, so what a terrible waste of a perfectly good kettle for the sake of a small part. Bad for customers to have to buy another one and bad for the environment to throw an otherwise good item away. I certainly wont buy another one until this design is fixed or the part becomes available as a spare. c'mon Philips, you must see all these reviews, why not respond and tell everyone how you are fixing this!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good kettle let down by a rectifiable design fault in the lid Good kettle, but semi-transparent plastic strip within the lid becomes brittle over time and then disintegrates - a fault which has been highlighted in other reviews going back to 2014, possibly earlier. With a focus on plastic waste and the long-term durability of products, it's a shame to see a respected company such as Philips continue to allow a fault such as this ruin an otherwise great product. The broken part is not available as a spare, so the only option is to buy a new kettle! It's ironic that this kettle is marketed as 'allowing you to reduce your impact on the environment', as it's now going to end up prematurely in landfill, along with thousands of other faulty kettles. At least make a replacement part available.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2nd Replacement - failed again, bad buy! Bought this kettle in 2015, came to a point within the 2 year warranty where it stopped boiling - seemed there was a problem with the contact point between the kettle & base. Contacted Philips customer service who were efficient and sent a replacement. Here we are again months later and the same thing has happened. Now as the 'original purchase' of the previous product was over 2 years ago they won't replace it again - even though it's faulty. Not happy, steer clear of this product I would say. That's even if they publish this review!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great kettle bar one common fault Aa with so many others the kettle has been great to use and very reliable but the clear plastic strip in the lid has become cloudy, brittle and disintegrated. Come on Philip's make a spare available at a decent price and restore your customers faith in your products and customer service. Otherwise your customers will go elsewhere.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Philips' best kettle I'm a great fan of Philips products and their excellent customer service, but am very disappointed with this kettle. For a start, it takes ages to switch off after boiling. Secondly, it doesn't switch off when you lift it, so it boils dry if you pour the water and then put it back on its base without switching it off manually. Lastly, it's impossible to empty the kettle fully through the spout. If you try, some of the remaining water escapes round the filter, bringing scale with it, and the rest leaks out from around the lid. Only a few spoonfuls get left behind, but that's a few spoonfuls too many - you finish up boiling more water than you needed and then either reboiling the stale water left behind or turning the kettle upside down to empty it through the lid. Not Philips' best effort.
