Philips Jamie Oliver HomeCooker HR1040/90 1500 W Stirrer Steaming tier is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 131.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use The first time I used the homecooker was with a group of girlfriends and I cooked risotto and chocolate fondue. It didnt take long to work out how to use it although there were 10 of us. We all agreed that the results were excellent. The stirrer produces evenly cooked food with no sticking on the bottom of the pan. I had the pan full to max which is 3 litres and it did the job brilliantly. My only criticism of the product is that the handle on the lid is rough and doesnt feel finished particularly well. That said the rest of the homecooker is solid and feels well made. I have put it in the dishwasher and it came through looking as good as it did out of the box. I also have the tower and have used it to slice onions with great results.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great product We used the product in conjunction with the Jamie Oliver HomeCooker recipe book. We made a french onion soup to start with and it was so easy to do. We followed the recipe to the letter and the soup was fantastic. Little effort on our part was required and the cooker did all the hard work. We then made a chocolate fondue and again we just chucked in the ingredients and out came a lovely, smooth chocolate mix ready to eat. The temperature was just right and everything mixed to perfection. We found the cooker very easy to use. Just one tip be very careful when putting the cutting tools into place they are extremely sharp and should have a warning! We are just about to try the full cooked breakfast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How did I manage without this? I recently received the Philips Homecooker and chopping tower, and cannot express just how lucky and privileged I am to have the opportunity to use them both. The homecooker is extremely easy to use, has a timer, cooks all varieties of food all in one place, has a stir attachment and simply beeps when dinner is ready. I do not have to stand over several pots and pans and can spend more quality times with my family and guests. I made a spaghetti bolognaise, and the mince was so tender and the sauce so flavoursome, we loved it! Another of my favourite recipes are the small cubed rosemary potatoes which is one of the many scrumptious recipes contained in the free Jamie Oliver cookery book which comes with the homecooker. Such a simple yet easy quick 'handfree' meal. Thankfully the pot and stirring arm are dishwasher safe, which just adds to the product benefits. The chopping tower fits perfectly with the homecooker, and has made my food processor redundant! The cheese when grated goes directly into the chopping tower, as does everything else I grate/chop/slice...why was this not invented sooner?! All in all, both the homecooker and chopping tower are kept permanently on my kitchen side, they look so impressive, and have pride of place there and in my life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic piece of equipment that's so much more than a good-looking gadget!! This product has changed my life. As a busy working mum of three hungry boys I really appreciate the extra pair of hands that the homecooker gives me in the kitchen. It great to be able to set the timer and forget about dinner untill I hear the beep knowing that dinner won't burn or stick thanks to the clever stirring arm. This product has also given my fourteen year old son the confidence to cook for the family and me the confidence to let him as I know using the cutting tower takes the work and worry that he will do himself aninjury himself away. Also I love the fact that the homecooker allows you to make a good old fashioned rice pudding in 30 minutes..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Takes the stress out of dinner parties I hosted a Phillips Home Cooks party last night using this product, I found that it was very different from normal as I had loads more time to do thing other than preparing the food. The machine fries the food, while shirring it so it doesn't burn and then you add the other ingredients and it cooks it all together. I cooked a stew type dish and a soup - both of which were perfectly cooked. The HomeCooker was also easy to clean and took seconds to set up. My only negative is that you cannot set it to start cooking food when you are out. This is a great addition to any home and certainly something that I will be getting a lot of use from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kitchen Must Have The Philips Homecooker really does it all ~ from fresh veg to rice, meats and puddings... it seems that nothing phases it. The appearance of the cooker is sleek and modern. The chrome appearance and black inserts gives a great look and is very easy to keep clean. Just the right size to keep out on display too. Inside the Homecooker, you have different levels ~ the base with the stirrer, pasta, rice and vegetable steamer. Each partician is a great size, and I have not had any problems with foods under cooking. The steam action really does work and the foods have a better taste to them that if done in a conventional steamer. The paddle in the bottom of the base is a fantastic invention. You do not have to worry about the food sticking to the bottom and means that you do not have to stand over the cooker stirring. Pop your food in, press the buttons and walk away! It does it all for you. I would love to see additional speed variation though if a newer model was to be devised, and perhaps the paddle could do with going right to the side of the bowl. Now, I am no Jamie Oliver when it comes to cooking, but the easy to follow recipes turn out fantastic results. The easy to follow recipes devised by Mr Oliver himself that come with the cooker make delicious dinners. I would say it is a perfect size for a family of 4, with some leftovers! Using the Homecooker is childsplay. The instructions are easy to understand, and the simplistic approach of not too many buttons is so appealing. There is nothing worse than a gadget that over complicates things by adding on far too much unnecessary options. The great thing about this is that you can adjust the temperature quickly, you can pause the dinner should a guest be delayed ~ or even part cook it for those who are extra prepared during the day! The chopping tower is a must have with the Homecooker, I have to say that having both has made my children interested in learning to cook. The adore placing the vegetables through while it chops straight into the pan. We have made a few different soups together. All in all, I would say that the Homecooker is a great invention and I commend Philips for this. It has made my life so much easier when it comes to mealtimes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy to use and an attractive product The item is easy to use with clear guidelines and the product is nice and sleek. The ingredients do not stick to the pan so it is easy to clean, however with only one blade to stir, the stirring motion doesn't always mix the ingredients very well. It could have done with a second blade/paddle to mix. Comes with a great recipe book that is easy to follow and with the option of a chopping tower, it makes cooking quick and efficient. The chopping tools could have benefitted from a clearer identification page.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and easy to use. I love this product and have used it most nights since receiving. The stirring arm really does ensure all food is cooked evenly and it looks great in the kitchen. It doesn't have overly complicated buttons and is simple and easy to use although the power button is hidden at the back and difficult to use with nails! Cleaning is easy - as the pot and stirring arm can go straight in the dishwasher. Overall I would recommend the homecooker as a fantastic simple alternative to using the hob.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful for busy families As a self-employed mum working mostly from home, I can see the benefits of the homecooker - being able to leave the pot stirring while I take a phonecall or send an urgent email without fear of burning is fabulous! And more importantly being able to do the school run and leaving the food cooking will also give me back valuable time. The controls are intuitive the pot and steaming trays are easy to clean. I'm looking forward to making more meals with the homecooker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What An Amazing HomeCooker! This is an amazing piece of kitchen equipment, just as you would expect from Philips and Jamie Oliver. It can make everything from a cooked English breakfast to soups, curries and rice pudding. The stirrer attachment means you can set the timer and leave the HomeCooker to do the work for you without risk of food sticking or burning. The cooker cleans really well and comes complete with baskets for steaming, cooking rice and pasta. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Philips home cooker This is a great product for freeing up your time in the kitchen. It cooks one pot dishes amazingly well. It is essentially pricey for what it really is but it does save you time to get on an do other things whilst the pot stirs. I've made several dishes from the book and make a to die for sausage casserole along with Jam (enough for the whole year) Rice pudding is fab along with white sauce for endless batches of lasagne to freeze.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inventive and innovative If you want a product that does everything that it says on the box then the Philips Home Cooker is the machine for you - it fries, boils, sautes, roasts and generally eliminates the need for a set of saucepans. You can make literally anything you like in here and you don't need to stand over the pans to make it work!
