Philips AquaTouch Wet and dry electric shaver AT887/16 Lift and Cut blades Flexing heads with Aquatec wet and dry and Pop-up trimmer is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 634.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible shaver I bought this thinking it'd be good to save time and effort versus a manual wet shave. It's awful though. It takes ages to shave using it. It'll do a sort of half hearted shave but leave a load of hairs untouched. It's not that it doesn't cut to the right length or without enough power, it's just that it misses so many hairs! I have no idea why. Then I have to spend ages infront of the mirror carefully guiding each remaining hair into one of the trimmer holes - and so far I've given up each time after about 20 minutes of battling with it and just picked up a razor to finish off in 2 minutes. I've tried using it with wet shaves, dry shaves, repeated cleaning of the blades... I've never had a single decent shave from it. I'd love to take it back to the store for a refund, but it's not "faulty", just rubbish. If there's any way to get a refund from Philips I'd love to know how. I'm now nervous of trying other electric shavers because maybe they're all as bad - but surely not if they're so popular?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking and does the job I replaced this model with a 18 year old Phillips Coolskin that lasted ages and cut well. The At899/6 shaves just as well, personally it takes between 5/8 minutes for a decent shave. Good grip handle and truly comfortable blades that do not irritate the skin. It does the job well for a convient dry shave, but ultimately I don't think no one should be fooled in thinking any electric shaver can shave as close as a razor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple to use, works a treat. I bought mainly for my grown-up son, who has Down's Syndrome, to use. It is easy and safe to use and gives a good close shave. I sometimes use it myself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not As Good As Previous Owned. A present for Christmas this is. Dare not complain. Have owned a HQ8894 Sensotec since 05/09/2003 had no problem up until this year when the info screen malfunctioned. It is still working fine with the same head and blades. Whish I had not mentioned anything to my wife. Anyway the AT881/16 works, though the HQ8894 Sensotec is still more comfortable and quicker after 13years. Pity you could not keep up your standard. Keeping the HQ8894 Sensotec just in case the AT881/16 does not last. it does not feel well made. Thank you for 13 Years and probably more from the HQ8894 Sensotec.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor after sales advice After several years of use my shaver is out of warranty and it no longer charges itself. I contacted customer support for some support but received none at all. Just an email stating that as my shaver was out of warranty, Philips won't repair it. I wasn't asking for a free repair, I am happy to pay, I just want some advice, in other words, SUPPORT . I don't want to throw my shaver away and I don't know what to do or where to go to find someone who will replace the rechargeable battery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent design as expected from Philips! Having always wet shaved due to irritation with previous use of electric dry shavers, I went with this product after looking online at various reviews of Dry/wet shavers. I wanted a beard trimmer as well, and despite the extra cost, would definitely recommend the AT 918!! Beautifully weighted in the hand, with a comfortable & ergonomic grip, it has been a pleasure to use. No irritation, clean precise shave, and as for cleaning, very easy!! Well done Philips!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement for excellent similar shaver Really liked previous shaver, so when it needed replacing I bought the product closest to my previous one, which was the best electric shaver I have ever used. And this shaver seems equally as good. However had a problem registering for a two year guarantee. Philips say serial number is 9 digits on back of shaver or 5 digits inside shaver heads. After much confusion on my part, I find it is in fact 5 digits on back of shaver. Hoping I haven't got a fake version. (Unable to download files. Not computer savvy being 84).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable shave This is probably my 4th Philips shaver I have purchased over 10's of years. I always buy Philips shavers because they give me a quick, simple, comfortable and irritation free shave. This shaver's performance is just as good as any other Philips shavers I have owned but the quality of materials the AT887/16 shaver is made from is less premium than my previous Philips shaver bought for a similar price about 8 years ago. I have dry shaves with this shaver but love the way I can just rinse away the whiskers with warm water every few days.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A rough cut like a rotary mower! I have been using foil shavers for over 20 years and decided to try this rotary one but I've regretted buying this every time I've used it and now I’ve gone back to my old £15 foil shaver. It's like using a blunt razor and tugs the hair and leaves the skin dry/irritated/sore and results in a unclean shave. I have tried dry and wet with gel and there’s not much difference. My hair type is quite thick so maybe rotaries can’t handle it. Certain parts of the face I can only use one rotor which makes it even less effective. Wasted my money :-/

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use with great battery life. Great shaver, easy and comfortable use, it makes light work of a very mundane task. Its performance as a wet shaver is not quite as good as a dry shaver but that suits my personal preference anyway. Great design which gets most hairs in the awkward spots easily. The battery life is particularly impressive, I charged it fully when first got it and have not had to charge it again since I have had it. By far the best electric shaver I have used, It looks smart and does not make any mess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nearest thing a a razor blade shave Been using this shaver for a while and it's really good, like my title says, the nearest thing to a wet razor blade shave, without all the cuts! I use a face wash as the medium to help the heads float over the skin, and you can use it in the shower too. A full charge lasts ages, easily 7-10 days.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not up to spec The product is not what I expected. To get a clean shave, I have to repeat the shave at least twice and the battery needs charging every two days. I would not recommend this product - if you are buying a shaver, I would suggest going for a more expensive model.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good wet shave performance Purhcased this proiduct last month to replace previous Philips shaver. Good battery life & charges fully in 1 hour. Works effectively with shaving foam or gel & provides a close wet shave without any nicks or cuts. Easy to clean after (just rinse it under a tap) Dry shave works ok, but I find it a bit heavy on the skin this way. If you have the time best use it for a wet shave. Good product that does what it says on the tin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Comfortable This shaver was a replacement under warranty for an earlier model Aquatouch which failed after 2-1/2 years (failed to charge) I give this shaver 5 stars as it is a very comfortable close shave. I hope that it will last longer that my previous one. (Moral: make sure you register your product to get the extra 12 month guarantee) The faulty shaver was exchanged without quibble by Phillips.
