Cookng for 12 no probs with the Home Cooker, I just prepared the ingredients with the Chopping Tower and it popped the ingredients into the pot for me. then just added everything in order to create 5 seperate dishes for a dinner party, Minestrone Soup, Paella, Chicken Cacciatore, Rice Pudding and Chocolate Fondue. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A dream of an appliance! Oh how cooking has changed in the Foster Family household since this wonderful appliance entered our lives. It has turned cooking into an enjoyment for me, and has also made things much easier and quicker to prepare nutritious and tasty meals for our family of 5 (soon to be 6)! Firstly, the packaging the product came in, is well designed and looks smart, making it also ideal for a gift idea. The product was well protected inside and it was easy to unpackage and put all the parts together. Once assembled I was pleased with how stylish the product also looked and therefore complimented my kitchen as opposed to being an unsightly and bulky appliance. It fitted just nicely on my kitchen worktop and along with the cutting tower looked a really smart piece of equipment. The product all slots together easily and quickly and has a separate attachement for steaming, meaning that you could be cooking a curry in the main pot, whilst the rice steams nicely above. The instruction booklet was easy to use and understand and allowed me to understand the basic processes to use the item with ease. It also provided a guide of approximate timings and temperatures for each cooking method such as steaming, boiling, frying and gentle heating, which helped me to understand what temperature I should set things at when trying out my own recipes in addition to the Jamie Oliver ones suggested in the accompanying cookbook. The first meal that we tried with our new homecooker was the Jamie Oliver one pot breakfast. The whole family loves a cooked breakfast and so this seemed the obvious choice to try it out and see what it could do. The electronic digital display made it easy to set the timings and temperature and to set the stirring tool in motion. I was a little worried initially that all the food would just stick to the bottom of the pan, but I need'nt have worried. We added the chipolatas, bacon, mushrooms at the timings suggested and then left the homecooker to do the work! It was very tempting to keep going back and checking on it initially but I managed to leave the homecooker to it and when I returned for our breakfast I was pleasantly suprised. I added the eggs, and then served it up on some toast and it was absolutely delcious, the combination of flavours made it one of the nicest breakfasts I have ever tried and the fact that it was so easy to do gave it definite brownie points! Once cooking is finished, it is very easy to take it apart and easy to clean, I don't have a dishwasher, but it is dishwasher safe which adds an extra convenience for some customers. Overall, I am really pleased with this product and would happily recommend it to others. Since having this product in our house we have made soups, curries, risottos, breakfasts, chilli con carne and stew with ease and I can't wait to try out some more recipes in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Philips Homecooker I have to admit that I was sceptical about the new Philips HomeCooker and Cutting Tower at first – I just didn’t see the point of these new kitchen appliances. I thought it would be the kind of gadget like a sandwich toaster or breadmaker that I would use a few times and then it would be stashed into the understairs cupboard, never to be used again. However, after having owned both new appliances for a short while, I’m already smitten. If you’ve not come across the new Philips HomeCooker before, it is a Jamie Oliver designed gadget that not only fries, boils, and steams but it also stirs for you as well - the aim being for it to be easier for people to able to eat tasty homecooked food more often. Inside the large, metal, double-handled pan is a clever removable, rotating, flat blade — it looks a little like a food processor, but it stirs rather than chops. The HomeCooker comes with straightforward temperature and time settings on the base so you can just leave it to cook and stir the dinner for you. The Cutting Tower saves even more time by chopping the ingredients straight into the pan. The first recipe that I attempted from the accompanying Jamie Oliver cookbook was crispy roast potatoes to accompany barbecued steak. However, no sooner had I placed the chopped potatoes, thyme, crushed garlic cloves and seasoning into the pan and set the timer when my husband rang to say that he was going to be too late home from work for a barbecue. So I popped a couple of sausages into the pan and left the HomeCooker to work its magic. One hour later I was able to enjoy perfectly cooked sausages and crispy potatoes with some boiled green beans from the garden. Normally when I’m cooking food I feel the need to fiddle about in the kitchen and I would certainly never leave a pan on the hob unattended. But with the HomeCooker I can go off and do chores, a bit of gardening, walk the dog even, and when I open the front door the smell of a lovely home cooked dinner is waiting for me - heaven. I have small, gutless oven, and I find that if I’m cooking a roast dinner in the oven, the meat on the top shelf will cook but there’s no hope for the potatoes on the bottom shelf, so I find myself continuously rotating the two trays in the oven to ensure that both are cooked at the same time. Now that I have my HomeCooker, the potatoes can be cooked separately in the HomeCooker and the meat can have the oven all to itself. I also love the idea that the HomeCooker is cheaper to run that an oven so I can cook things in the HomeCooker instead of the oven and save money on electricity. And if my oven ever goes on the blink I have a method of cooking a meal without resorting to something microwaved. I was initially disappointed that the HomeCooker does not have a non-stick coating but I found that with the stirring arm food doesn’t get stuck to the bottom of the pan and it’s all dishwasher safe anyway so I can just bung the pan into the dishwasher without any need for scrubbing. I only have a small galley kitchen with limited worktop space so all appliances have to earn their keep. I am pleased to say that my HomeCooker and Cutting Tower are very valued kitchen tools that aren’t going to be banished to my understairs cupboard and I would recommend them to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fresh Home Cooked food with ease! I received the Home Cooker and Chopping Tower a couple of weeks ago and it has been a revelation for me (a busy working mum of two!). On first receiving it the boxes appeared huge and I was a little daunted at first as there was many more pieces than I thought there would be! I was also a bit wary of where it would be stored, but on starting to assemble the cooker I realised it was easy to put together and looked great. Storage isn't an issue as we have decided to leave it on the worktop - it doesn't look out of place and will certainly be used frequently! The recipe book with the cooker is great and has some lovely recipes - I've also visited the Homecooker micro-site where on registering there are more recipes to try too....!!! I was cooking for 10 friends and decided to do an 'Around the World' tasting menu from the Jamie Oliver recipe book.... my friends all agreed the Bolognaise was the best they had ever tasted... the slow cooking of the meat with the stirrer paddle constantly mixing the ingredients resulted in a rich, thick and extremely intense flavour and once the initial 15 minutes of adding ingredients had passed I could leave the cooked to do all the work for the next 90 minutes whilst I cleaned the house and got changed for my guests! I also treated them all to a Risotto which I 'rustled up' whilst they were all there.... 25 minutes to make a risotto is amazing in itself but the fresh flavour combined with the wonderful creamy texture was a delight - definately one I would recommend and I will certainly be cooking again and trying with a number of other ingredients.... So - the results speak for themselves... but to the cooker itself! It looks great and I'm more than happy to leave the cooker and the chopping tower on ther worktop. The instructions when I first read them appeared very basic - but in reality the machine is very easy to use! There are only a couple of buttons which change the timer and the cooking function and they are very easy to press/use - the screen is clear and the on/off lights bright so it makes it easy at a glance to view. I loved the alarm to let me know when the cooking is complete or ready for the next stage - and additionally I love that it switches off the cooking and just maintains the heat once the timer is reached.... a fab facility for a busy mum as I know if I'm dealing with the children or other chores that I can continue in the knowledge that I won't be left with a burnt or cold dinner. I've used the machine since my dinner party on a couple of occassions both using the recipe book and the recipes that are accessible on registering the product through the HomeCooker micro-site (and I definately recommend trying Mario's Chicken and Spinach curry... yummy) and even my cynical husband has been raving about the machine to friends and neighbours... the only downside is he keeps inviting people for dinner to show it off! On to the cutting tower.... wow what a lifesaver (and finger saver!). I have trialled most of the cutters and find the slicer and the julien cutters amazing - the fact that the tower fits around the homecooker and pours the chopped ingredients direct into the cooking is great for saving on washing and cuts onions / carrots / celery etc within seconds. I have even demonstrated slicing carrots to several friends just because words cannot describe how great this item really is! I would recommend the Homecooker and Chopping Tower to anyone who wants fresh, home cooked food with the hours or preparation and mess that it generally brings! Defintaly one of my most prized possessions!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great semi automated cooking The temperature settings are nice and consistent, mixing is continuous so no need to worry about food sticking etc. Bought mine second hand without recipe book, which is the only problem, hence 3 stars for ease of use

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing family "must have" for the kitchen I was dubious at first about this product but i have to say its simply as brilliant and impressive as it looks. The instructions of use were clear and concise, i had it working within minutes. It looks stylish and contemporary and all the cooking parts slot together with ease. I was so impressed as it really is all singing all dancing lol. It stirs for you, simmers for you, steams, cooks rice and pasta and slow cooks. The massive bonus of this i find is that the food tastes far better than if cooked in a slow cooker it really retains all flavours. The chopping tower is awesome! it greates and slices its going to save me so much time. I would thoroughly reccoment this for families to use, I have 4 children so this is ideal it also holds large quantities of food. I have cooked soup in it - so easy! curries, goulashes, paella. My children who adore my homecooking were VERY impressed with the food:-) and that says a lot! I cooked a curry in it (1.5ltrs) and they polished the lot! Yes i know it might have a large outlay but it is very worth it. I have reccomended this to family and friends and have shown them how its used they were most impressed with it as am i!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gadget for busy mums! My home cooker was waiting for me on return from hospital after giving birth to my daughter by c section. It has been a great help and has been used frequently since. Being in pain and on strict orders to rest the home cooker has enabled me to prepare home cooked nutritious meals for the family with minimal effort but maximum taste. It came with a great jamie oliver cook book but we have used it for other Jamie Oliver recipes like his corn chowder and for everyday meals like chili con carne and stews. I am looking forward to cooking other dishes with my home cooker. The fact that I can adjust the temperature to each stage of cooking and set the timer then walk away knowing that the stirer will prevent it from sticking and burning is a great help. The timer bleeps letting me know when I am needed for the next stage of cooking. The chopping tower is great and saves time and tears from chopping onions! Placing it over the cooker it speedily and evenly chopped a variety of vegetables straight into the pan with little mess or effort. This product is great for busy people but the price tag may put some people off as it is expensive for what it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let the HomeCooker do the work for you! Oh My goodness - this works like a dream! No more standing over the hob mixing and stirring, now you really CAN do 2 (or more!) jobs at the same time. The machine does the stirring for you so you can go off and do those million other things that can't wait! The timer only goes up to 99 mins though - I would have like to see a longer option (especially as some of the recipes in the accompanying book need much longer!), that would allow you to leave the cooker doing it's thing while you are out at work for instance. Once your creation is ready, the machine keeps it warm until you are. Comes with steamer/pasta basket etc too so you can theoretically cook a whole meal in one go. Have tried roast potatoes, Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken Korma & French Onion Soup so far & all came out beautifully. A must have too is the cutting tower - imagine cutting 1kg of Onions by hand for that French Onion soup......it was done in no time & with virtually no tears when using the Cutting tower in conjunction with the Home Cooker. Thanks to both Philips Home Living & Come Round for the opportunity to demonstrate & review this wonderful piece of must have kit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic food and a joy to use It was a Saturday 1pm, just got home from football with the kids with dinner party guests expected to arrive by 5.30pm. House needed tidying and kids needing lunch.. needless to say the panic was starting to set in! Pulled my new Home cooker out of the box, washed and assembled it (it was quite intuitive and only had to refer to instructions 2/3 times) and started making Jamies Slow cooked Hungarian beef goulash. I loved the fact that I just had to throw everything in together so easy, then with the timed breaks in the recipe I set about my other tasks. The biggest advantage is the free time you get while the thing is cooking especially in the half hour before everyone arrives there is plenty of time to get changed without worrying about burnt food. I must say it was the first dinner I've hosted where I've been relaxed and could sit and chat to guests without having to slave over a hot stove and getting all flustered and missing all the fun. It was a joy to use, very easy and the results were fantastic food great and far more sociable means of hosting a dinner than being tied to the cooker. Can't wait to try the French Onion soup next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally impressed Watching the youtube videos, I initially thought that this would be another one of those kitchen gadgets that would be good for one thing and end up gathering dust in the cupboard but how wrong I was. The Homecooker arrived and immediately I realised how much it could do. Making lunch for a bunch of people for me is usually a very stressful matter so I decided on Jamies bolognese recipe to try out the home cooker for the first time. I was amazed how easy and stress free everything was. The chopping tower is ingenious, slicing everything straight to the pan, the temperature and timer controls are idiot proof and the finished result tasted amazing. In the past week I have made French onion soup, pan cooked breakfast, butternut squash rissoto and chicken korma, all made really simple by the homecooker. Clean up is a breeze as the stirrer stops anything from sticking and my family are loving the healthy, tasty meals. Price wise, I think that may put a lot of people off as it is expensive but truthfully, as it does everything that you can do on a stove top all in one tastefully designed unit, it will pay for itself in no time

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost - but not quite...! This is a very well made product - it feels solid and does everything it claims to - so why not 5 stars? Well, it may be a bit unfair, but it is because of what it doesn't do! Ok - the stirrer does a good job, you may have to push food down from the sides occasionally (when cooking onions and spices for example) but that won't kill you - for the most part yes, you can walk away and get on with other stuff. The pot is very good quality - but food can stick to it - nothing a long soak followed by some vinegar won't cure (do NOT use even a nylon scourer - I learned this the hard way!). So - what doesn't it do? Well, when the time is up, the stirrer stops and the unit shuts itself down - but the heating plate is still hot so, with no stirring going on, this is when the food starts to stick and burn unless you are around to remove the pot. If only it would give a choice to switch automatically to keep warm (or no heat) and keep stirring at the end of cooking then this would genuinely be a fantastic cooker that could be left entirely to get on with the work without any supervision. Such a missed opportunity - such a shame!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Hurray!!!! I am the first to review the wonderful Philips Jamie Oliver HomeCooker. Excellent Product. It does the job perfectly. Very wisely designed and engineered. The stirrer is a blessing as you can leave the cooker alone and no need to panic that the food gets burnt. The temperature could be adjusted as low as 40 degree C. And there is a timer too. Really an extra pair of hands. The New Philips HomeCooker can be used to make almost every thing. Perfect for Indian, Italian, Spanish recipes. It makes perfect steamed vegetables. The steamer and pasta tray make it even more special. All parts are very easy to clean. Not finished. The surprise addition to this wonderful equipment. There is a cutting tower with mine. These are at least 2 pairs of hands. It is designed in a way that it can sit closer to the HomeCooker and the ingredients fall straight into the cooker. There are several blades and it cuts the vegetables into perfection and it is really light weight. And both of them not much space consuming. I love my Philips HomeCooker and the Cutting Tower very much. Love it! Love it! Love it!
