Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bottom leaking I have to say I'm disappointed with this. I've had mine just over 2 years and it's been great except the bottom has now started leaking! Kettle still works fine so obviously there is a serious flaw in the seal design, which is a pity as I normally regard Philips as a good quality product - not any more it seems

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product with one serious fault - see below I really like this kettle. However the plastic strip across the middle of the lid started to perish when the kettle was just over 2 years old. A hole developed and continues to grow causing the automatic switch off mechanism to fail and with bits of plastic falling into the kettle. Online reviews show that this is a common fault. Philips should redesign this product to rectify the fault.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I like this kettle If only it would have a longer life. The performance is good in the fact that it boils quickly. I also like the design and look of the kettle. You can see how much water is in there. Each time I have had this kettle it stops working after about 11 months. As it is guaranteed for 2 years, I am sent a replacement almost the next day. The customer service is more than excellent. BUT I would rather not have the hassle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Feeling disappointed. Being elderly, when decided to purchase didn't realise the water level(s) would not be illuminated. Carried on but find unable to view the area without close inspection especially as it gets dark. l'm using a jug to measure the water, but would have hoped the unit centre to light up on pressing the ON button, (which does light up) So rather disappointed. PERHAPS would be useful to review the feasibility of future product(s)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed to switch off. Boiled water twice and failed to automatically turn off on third occasion leaving the kitchen dripping with steam and the kettle almost boiled dry. Returned for full refund as no replacement available. This kettle was supposed to be a replacement for the same model we had been using for some years before it packed up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great kettle one design fault cann,t understand why water comes out the bottom of the kettle when you tip it right back. took it back to the shop thinking it was leaking after 8 months use. they gave me a new one, this was from curries. got it home. tipped it right back again and water was coming out again. has anyone tryed this. i,m sure this is not meant to happen. please let me know if anybody has had the same problem

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice kettle, but started leaking after 18 months Was very pleased with this kettle when we got it. Filling is easy with a pop-up lid and clear view of how much is in there. It looked great on the worktop, and boiled water quickly. However after 3 months the spring on the pop-up lid broke, and after 18 months, the kettle started leaking. So now we need a new kettle. I expect an item like a kettle to last far longer than this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All features work as described. Love this kettle. Have replaced today with same model as sadly my last one started dribbling whilst pouring and the on/off switch was failing. Would still recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Would rate excellent but the switch broke after about two years I expect a product of this apparent quality to last longer than it did. The kettle was still fully functional apart from the switch breaking and dropping off. It was not possible to repair the kettle so we have had to replace it. I would love to have replaced it with the same model, were it not for this 'feature' which many other purchasers complained of on the Amazon website.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick, efficient, safe, silent I read some reviews and thought it looked better than the competition. It has performed very well and is quick, silent and looks good. When you touch the sides during peak temperature it is reassuring to find that the insulation means you do not burn yourself. The filter is very good and keeps out linescale. I liked this so much I just bought one for my grandmother...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from looks good but This kettle looks and performs quite well but after only 4 months the plastic on/off switch fell of making it impossible to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lid not fit for purpose If you use this kettle for several years, the panel in the top will crumble and fall into the kettle, making it useless. Philips seem to refuse to accept this as a fault yet there are many reports of this available. No replacement lid is available. For this one reason, which must be simple to correct, I cannot recommend that you buy it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Economy minded Very well designed kettle. Easy to fill by flipping open the lid without having to fiddle filling through the spout. Very fast boil with low overall noise levels. Just one power on LED mounted in the flip switch. Easy to lift off it's base and replace. This does not switch the kettle off so it continues to boil when replaced if lifted off when only half boiled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent performance and easy to use This kettle heats up fairly immediately and I like the indicator gage sepecifying how many cups. I like the shape and size of this kettle. I would have liked the feature of lights included i.e. the change of colour as the water warms up. The weight is bearable for my old hands but I would hope that a lighter version was developed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great kettle.....poor switch I love this kettle with it's great looks and ability to boil one cup but.......the switch to turn it on has snapped so it is useless. We have not mistreated the switch it has just snapped in normal use therefore cannot recommend. We have other Philips products we we love but avoid this kettle as switch is simply not robust enough.
