Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for a busy mum! Philips Home Cooker and Cutting Tower As a very busy mum with a very young baby anything that makes life easier and meal times quicker is a definite blessing. I cannot stress enough how this home cooker allowed me to safely make a wonderful supper without all the mess and stress. I literally placed baby in highchair in kitchen , as home cooker warmed to required temp,I peeled some veg and used the cutting tower to cut it to required size in seconds safely, then I added the meat and stock and tomatoes to my slow cooked beef goulash, looked over at baby who happily was watching me! A few hours later after the odd timer change we had the most delicious goulash which suited all and left empty plates all round. Parts fitted in dishwasher easily so hardly anything to clean! A must for any household which struggles to get decent meals on the table due to not being able to constantly stir and watch the food. My family have happily picked out more meals for me to cook from the cook book and I'm happy to have more time to tend to baby without worrying about meal times now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The homecooker is a definitely a time saver and is easy to use and looks fab I recently hosted a Come Round Party to use my Philips Home Cooker and Chopping Tower. I cooked a selection of food from the cook book which included chicken korma to nut cake and everything turned out fantastic. The New Philips Homecooker was fab from the first look of the box to the products themselves pure quality. All pieces went together so well. The instuctions were good and clear. So got it quickly together and got it to cooking temperature and started to cook in minutes. The temperature control was easy to use and the handy stirrer made light work of every dish, with no sticking or burning. The cooking pot washed up well with nothing sticking to it. The pan also cools down very quickly.the steamer baskets are a dream to use. The Chopping Tower is a real time saver and is a must for everyone with 5 different cutting blades and easy to use and clean, saving time. Overall I can highly recommend these products they definitely save time and effort and make lovely tasty food. So easy to use from kids helping to adults cooking . It will be used very day in our home .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Extra Hand in the Kitchen with the Stirring Arm. Well I took it from the box and it was easy to put together. All pieces were clearly labelled and easy to understand what went where. I did need the instructions for the information to help me set the timer and love the little bleep bleep when we needed to move onto the next stage. It was easy to get started and the food was cooked to perfection, the smell of fresh herbs made everyone very hungry as we watched the stirring arm slowly turn my browning bacon, herbs and oil. We cooked the Tagliatelle alla bolognese and that's where the recipe book came in. Simple to follow even the kids helped to pop in the ingredients. It was a real family affair and my youngest kept an eye on the timer and read the next steps to me. The stirring arm really makes this product unique and was something really simple yet clever as even the best slow cookers at the lowest temperatures still catch and burn food. The design is easy for me to store and really simple to clean and dry. I left it on the side to air and then slotted all the pieces back together. Now whats next for me to cook???

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I almost use it daily. I've had the HomeCooker for almost a year now. Initially, put off by the price, I got my first HomeCooker from an auction site on the net. After 2 months the stirring function stopped and as I bought it the way I did, the Warranty was void. Whilst the stirring function was being repaired I just realised how much I love using it. Hence I bought another one from John Lewis. Yes, I have 2 HomeCookers. One is a backup. Like other comments here, for some strange reason, cooking is more tidy and kitchen is less messy. After you get used to how it operates, which is done in a snap, its all easy. This why the cookbook is particularly good. By reading the recipes I learnt the planning process for using the HomeCooker rather then trying out new recipes. The pasta insert is the only thing I don't use. To me it is rather pointless. You have to fill the HomeCooker up with so much water, to the max, and it therefore easy over boils. Which was suggested to me the as cause of the stirring motor to fail of my first HomeCooker in the first place. It's a doodle to clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saves me lots of time! My first impression of the HomeCooker was that it looked solid, good quality and well-made. The buttons and controls seemed easy to understand and intuitive to use. The instructions were easy to read and understand. So far I have made a slow cooked beef stew and Spaghetti Caronia and this definitely saved me time on each of these occasions. The stirrer stirs the food well and you do not need to do anything else except maybe give it a little stir right at the start when you put the ingredients in. The HomeCooker does not take any more space on the worktop than the slow-cooker I previously used and I think it that more than justifies the space that it occupies. I am very impressed and excited by the quality and sheer possibilities of what I will be able to cook in the HomeCooker and think I will be using it a lot and will save myself lots of time!Saving time is one of the big selling points of this product! I love the concept of being able to leave food to cook while you do other stuff - I'm a busy working mummy and wife!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from home cooked food without the effort I love to cook but find i dont always have the time to cook from scratch so use a few short cuts along the way. This homecooker sounded too good to be true but it does exactly what it says. You can add ingrediants and go away and come back to a lovely cooked meal. I made a hungarian goulash for my first dish from the very handy recipie cookbook it comes with (this has breakfast, starters, main meal and dessert recipies aswell as a relish). I set the temp added the oil, onions and and set the timer for about 5 mins, (in that time i managed to lay the table). I then added the meat and veg and put it on to cook, (at this point the kids were bathed and dressed and buffet laid out). My visitors started to turn up and i managed to interact without having to run off every 5 mins to stir. When the goulash was ready there was not one burnt onion bit, the beef was succulent and the gravy just right. We were all really impressed as it was a tasty home cooked meal and very little effort except for the prep work which again is made easier if you have the chopping tower. Its great to have the recipie booklet but i was more interested in how this would help me in my day to day cooking and the food we normally eat which are curries etc. I cooked a traditional mutton curry and it worked a treat. I had to keep testing the meat to get to the point where it was just soft enough to eat, it took about 2.5 hrs at 130 deg. When i emptied the pot there were no black marks at the bottom as there normally is in a saucepan. I will definetly be using this on a daily basis as there are lots of indian recipies that we dont use as its so time consuming/labour intensive but this will really reduce the amount of our time. 10/10 to Phillips & Jamie Oliver for this fantastic product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Gold Standard of Home Cookers! The Philips Jamie Oliver HomeCooker needs to be on the registry list of every newly wed couple, new family, and new home owner! I was shocked at how many functions the HomeCooker was capable of - in one evening, it fried, cooked, steamed, boiled (and strained), and even stirred itself! And with the easy to use digital display, you need not worry about leaving your food to cook for too long; when the timer is done, the HomeCooker shuts off the heat, ensuring that your food is cooked to perfection every time! We use ours in conjunction with the fabulous Philips chopping tower, and our meals have never been easier. I know some people may be put off by the price tag, but consider this: If you were to purchase a stock pot, a steaming basket, a colander, a fryer, a stove top pan, and a crock pot, it would take up half the kitchen and cost more than the single HomeCooker! You owe it to yourself to get the best for the best price, and for our money, there is nothing that compares to the Philips HomeCooker!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What my kitchen was missing! The HomeCooker arrived and I was amazed at how such a sleek looking thing could promise so much! The HomeCooker is stylish and light and easy to fit into any kitchen, the added bonus was the recipe book - included - that boasted a variety of meals to suit everyone from soup to pasta to chocolate fondue! I couldn't wait to try it out and very surprisingly neither could my husband who actually ended up cooking the full meal on his own whilst I sat with a glass of wine and chatted to our guests. The Home Cooker - said my husband - was very quick to heat up and the recipes were clear and simple to follow, the end result was amazing and everyone enjoyed their Spaghetti Alla Norma. The HomeCooker was quick and easy to clean afterwards and I didn't mind that after a cook free afternoon it was my allocated job. I would recommend this product to anyone that enjoys preparing delicious home cooked meals but feels that they simply don't have the time because let me reassure you that now you definitely do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helping Hand in the kitchen! I first tried this cooker out with a group of friends and on the first occassion there were mixed views about the products claims. We cook risotto and chocolate fondue from the include receipe book. I loved how it never burnt and needed little looking after so that I could look after my guests. Most guest were impressed but felt that it was an expensive kitchen gadget. However I love it!! The home cooker saves time and has encouraged me to be a bit more adventerous and trying out new receipes. As a busy family of 5 I was keen to try this cooker. I often have to make 2 dishes as there are 3 meat eaters and 2 veggies in the family! I have used it to make a meat dish and then cooked the veggie dish on the hob and it has been a wonderful extra pair of hands! The product is large but does look smart in the kitchen. I felt the tower that can be bought to accompany was a bit too expensive and basicaly does the job of a food processor so I would not really recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Can Cook! I'll start by saying I am really not the best cook, I stick to my basic tried and tested basic meals as if I try too get adventurous it generally goes very wrong! With this in mind, I was excited but slightly nervous at the results I might achieve with the Philips HomeCooker. I started with a simple recipe for Crispy Rosemary Potatoes from the Jamie Oliver recipe book included with the cooker, to the whole families surprise the results were fantastic and we ended up with the most delicious, perfectly cooked crispy potatoes. I got a little brave after this and decided to try the Butternut Squash Risotto, something I would often choose to eat out, but have failed miserably at before at home. Well all I can say is the HomeCooker performed a miracle, with the aid of the slicing tower my vegetables were perfectly sliced and dropped into the pan, using the various settings as directed, the HomeCooker gently fried off the veg & rice, simmered the wine & stock, all whilst continually stirring for you so nothing sticks until I had the most beautiful risotto dish. Just to test the versatilely a little further I also attempted the Creamy Chicken Korma recipe, I would have normally bought this dish ready made or used a jar of sauce and would not have believed I could have ever made it from scratch myself. However, with the step by step guide and the HomeCooker's unique stirring feature, adjustable temperature & timer settings, to its ability to fry, simmer & boil & steam it also made child's play of this dish. I would highly recommend this product, especially to busy working mums like myself who want healthy, wholesome freshly cooked food for their families, with minimum effort, you can literally add your ingredients, set the temperature & timer and walk away & spend precious time with your family, whilst it cooks & stirs for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has to be seen to be believed! I held a dinner party on sunday evening for 11, quite a daunting task! I made a tomato chutney before the party to go with my starters, I also made the french onion soup, which was so easy. The cutting tower chopped the onions and the soup bubbled away by itself! I then prepared all the ingredients for 3 yes 3 main courses! When the guests arrived I dished out the soup and set the first main course going. Steamed Asian Sea Bass! What a result this dish was a breeze to cook and looked so impressive! The guests loved it! While we all tucked into it we then set the next dish going, Mushroom risotto! Again it was a breeze! By this time the guests were fighting over who could cook! I have never held a dinner party before where the guest want to help with the cooking! While the home cooker was doing all the hard work stirring the risotto, we all have another glass of wine and a chat! Bliss. Again the Home Cooker cooked to perfection. 27 minutes and the risotto was ready! Then came dish number 3 Spaghetti Alla Norma! and again a perfect result! Could I make it through a dinner party without a failure - without something getting burnt! Well apart from the spaghetti - which did burn - but I must admit that was the only thing I cooked in a regular pan on the stove! Again the home cooker did its stuff and 20 minutes later the spaghetti dish was served! Just before sitting down to eat this course I popped in a rice pudding. Nobody believed the home cooker could cook a rice pudding in 30 minutes! Again I was not disgraced! The home cooker came up trumps and I had a beautiful rice pudding to die for! The guest were amazed! I had pulled it off the best dinner party ever! The picture show the story of an amazing night. The home cooker made the night perfect! Such ease to produce 4 dishes on the night with no disasters! Roll on the next party!
