Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Slower cooker with bells on! On receipt of this cooker I was not expecting great things. To be honest I though I would have a try and then it would be put into a cupboard and forgot about. I have to say the cooker impressed me! I have a few issues with the design of the on/off button etc. Play button to turn it on?? That aside I have cooked casseroles, sauteed potatoes - the recipe book came in handy as a first reference. I have also steamed, cooked pasta and made soups. I did managed to cook a casserole for a large dinner party using it - with little effort. My stirrer did give up the ghost and I have had to return the cooker. Philips have been in contact and a full replacement is on it's way ... I do miss it! It is a must for working mothers with small children (two girls aged one and two) as it gives you time back in the kitchen ... no watching a bubbling pan or endless stirring!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent all in one cooker for easy family meals! I have tried a couple of the recipes included with the cooker, and they've all been easy to follow. I then used the cooker to make a meal (not mentioned in the recipe book) - and still just as easy to use! The only bad thing I would say about the product is all the packaging - but thats inevitable and really hasnt got anything to do with the product!! Its easy to set up and use...you can use parts of it or all of it...and very easy to clean and put away! Its stunning looking and if it had individual timers for each part, it could fully replace the need for a conventional hob/oven! I liked the fact that I could literally just throw everything in, and leave it to do its thing, knowing it would stir and cook and wouldnt burn or stick! It meant I had extra time to spend with my family and friends instead of being stuck cooking in our poky little kitchen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where have you been all my life? The Philips Homecooker is certainly an impressive piece of kit, the pasta basket, steamer, and stirrer make this quite a versatile addition to the kitchen. From making a chicken paella (non seafood), lamb marrakech, french onion soup, chicken cacciatore and sesame roasted cauliflower, we have had excellent results and combined with the chopping tower it was very easy to use. As far as throw everything in the pot and leave it, well that is up to the individual recipe. The challenge for us as a family of five is to adapt recipes so that we aren't constantly going back to the pot to add the next step/ingredient. I loved how I could set it cooking and then deal with the next bit of trouble the kids have gotten into and not worry. The recipe booklet was a great idea too. I can see us using it every week. Tomorrow it's rice pudding time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Cooker for all meals for those who know me cooking is not one of my favourite things in the world. Its not that I dont enjoy cooking its just I'm actually not that good at it. When browsing through the home cooker receipe book everything seemed so easy and effortless and made me instantly think - okay wheres the catch? For my first dish I decided to make the Korma. This is a dish I enjoy but have never quite mastered it. Preparation was quick and easy and I was shocked about how much I was enjoying myself with my new boys toy! Poor wife didnt get a look in :D The Korma was quick and easy to make and everyone loved it. I've also done the Paella and the english breakfast which was my guests favourite. The home cooker not only looks impressive but its defiately won me over and i am looking forward to expanding my range of dishes I can cook

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cooking has never been so relaxing! It took me a just a short while to adjust to using the home cooker but 5 minutes staring at the pan stirring itself and I was reassured and took my coffee and my book to the sofa and whiled away the time until it beeped to remind me I was actually performing culinary craftwork... It's a great way to free yourself from the pan-side to either prepare the remaining veges for your dish, chase the kids round to tidy-up, give in and tidy-up, enjoy a glass of wine and a chat with friends etc etc all with the knowledge that you will not get a sudden sinking feeling that you may have inadvertantly created a meal that's a little charred and possibly rendered inedible. The meals mostly take longer to make which limits the cooker when you're in a rush but when you have time it is definately put to better use! Well done Philips!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Homecooker We have had the homecooker for just over a week now, and first used it to make French onion soup, which was very simple with the chopping tower...... Doesn't mess about chopped 1kg of onions in minutes of cause we had to peel them and half them then just popped them through the chopper. The heat adjustment settings are brilliant and so simple to use I just changed the temperature and let it cook :-) The next thing we tried was rice pudding......... Omg it was the best rice pudding I have ever tried.... Overall I can see the homecooker as a very important appliance in the kitchen, and can be used to make a number of different dishes with ease.... Do need to worry about it sticking to the bottom as the stirring arm takes care of that. And the chopping tower is very easy to use and very easy to wash up after.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love a gadget. I love a gadget and this one didn't disappoint. I used it to cook a hot lunch for 9 guests without any problems. The Home Cooker simmered and stirred a thick soup without it sticking to the bottom of the pan. It made a fantastic paella, evenly distributing the spices and cooking it to perfection. The Home Cooker really comes into its own cooking one-pot stews and casseroles. The tower chops the ingredients directly into the pan. Then you just leave it to cook and stir until it is ready. If extra pans are available to buy separately, I would certainly consider buying at least another one to save washing up between courses. Although the Home Cooker is easy to clean and the bits will go in the dishwasher. I would have liked it to have the option of being able to chose a start time on the timer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cook fresh healthy meals easily! Cooking is a necessity in my household. I personally enjoy cooking and love to cook from scratch. But with a busy schedule juggling work, children, household chores, cooking, there is almost no time for myself. Time is never enough. Sunday 30th September 2012 – I hosted a Come Round Philips Fresh Cook party for 9 guests. I was excited but worried that the party was going to be more of a chore. This is not the case when you have the newly launched home cooking appliance from Philips – Philips Jamie Oliver HomeCooker. The product comes with a manual, 2 years warranty and also a Jamie Oliver recipe book full of variety and inspiration. The HomeCooker has four main attachments which consist of a large base with heated plate, temperature control and timer, stainless steel pot with a raised hole for the stirrer, a pasta/rice insert, a steaming basket and a glass lid. All the attachments are removable for easy cleaning. The stirring tool is detachable. It slowly turns, stopping food from burning and keeping the food mixed. From low temperature slow cooking to high-temp (up to 250°C) fast cooking, all stages of cooking can be done with just one device. The LCD display on the base for On/Off stirring, temperature setting and timer are pretty simple. Just press on the Up/Down buttons to set the temperature and time to your preference. As for the stirring button, it helps the cook to stay in control when cooking dishes that needs constant stirring and the HomeCooker will works its magic. When the food is ready, the HomeCooker will beep several times and will automatically shut down. It helps to prevent food from burning and overcooking. Philips Jamie Oliver HomeCooker gives you all you need for cooking from scratch. Cook fresh healthy meals easily with his “magic” cooker. Rated 4 out of 5 by from A extra pair of hands in the kitchen. The Jamie Oliver HomeCooker is a stylish looking kitchen appliance which looks great on display in the kitchen. I found it great for cooking wet meals, curries, bolognaise etc the HomeCooker with it stirring action meant once the ingredients had been added I was free to get on with other jobs. Yes it did take longer to cook than perhaps if I was standing over the hob but the great thing was I didn't have to stand there and the food was cooked to perfection when I was ready to serve to my friends and family. Trying the roast potatoe recipe the house smelled amazing. The chopping tower has become one of my most useful gadgets. I would love to see more recipes made for large families but until then will continue to experiment with so far faultless results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for healthy family meals I am not a gadget lover. The gadgets I have bought in the past are on the whole gathering dust on top of kithen cabinets. I tend to find most popular gadgets take me more time rather than save me time & I was fully expecting to reach the same conclusion with Jamie Olivers Homecooker. How wrong I was, this is now a very important piece of kit in my kitchen. Over the years, I have adapted many popular recipes myself, making them healthier, but keeping them filling. I do this mostly by halving meat quantities & packing full of a variety of shredded vegetables, great, filling, low fat meals with a big helping of our 5 a day to boot. I do this with chillis, pasta dishes, shepherds pies, stew & much more. The Philips homecooker helps me cook the style of meals we already enjoy, but makes it quicker, easier & much less work! The chopping tower was as good at made for me! I can grate all my veggies straight into the pan after frying off the meat. One concern of mine was whether the cooker would only work well using full fat oil to soften veg or brown meat. I normally use a low fat spray oil. I tentatively tested it out & was over the moon to find that it worked perfectly! The way the Homecooker looks after itself, once all the ingredients have been added makes my life so much easier, it cooks away, stirring itself whilst I get on with other things. I have made soups, pasta dishes & chilli con carne so far. I am very much looking forward to trying out the rest of our favourite family recipes. The only negative thing I have to say is regarding the recipe book included with the cooker. For me, the biggest selling point of this appliance is the ability to cook one pot meals easily, however, there were very few recipes of this nature in the book. I have had to form my own recipes from scratch through trial & error. It would have been more helpful to have a couple to try out first, to have an idea about cooking times etc, that I could then adapt to my own recipes. I would highly recommend the Philips Homecooker

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply a fantastic addition to any home! I must admit to being a little sceptical when I read about this product. I wasn't convinced that this wouldn't be yet another faddy gadget to add to the collection at the back of my kitchen cupboard. How wrong was I! The Philips Home Cooker is a simple, yet very effective bit of kit. Easy to set up and use, and easy to clean (which is essential in my eyes). The stirrer stops your food from being burned as it cooks, and the LCD display on the base shows cooking time and temperature. The whole thing is robust, excellent quality and provides an extra pair of hands in the kitchen. Then there's the chopping tower which is designed to chop and grate ingredients straight into the home cooker - simply brilliant!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The new generation of home cookers! From busy mums to students this cooker can cater for everyone! The ability to add ingredients and walk away are a real plus point for this machine! The unique stirring feature prevents ingredients from sticking to the bottom of the pan and enhances the flavours without draining any of the freshness. Green beans and courgette remain crunchy whilst cooking to perfection yet pasta is cooked to perfection within the same recipe - MAGIC! I love the way you can cook the recipe and keep it warm too - so much food is wasted as it goes cold before you get a chance to refill your dish...not anymore! Highly recommended for everything from a quick lunch to a full dinner party! My new favourite kitchen appliance!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All in One and One for All! I have had the homecooker for just over week now and have really enjoyed using it for a variety of meals. First I tried a classic casserole next new potatoes salmon and veg and lastly a risotto. All cooked evenly with sticking and I used very little oil. The temparature in the homecooker heats up very quickly and stays constant throughout. I found the cooker very easy to clean also with no scrubbing which is always good! The unit packs away nicely so easy to pop in the cupboard, however it looks so stylish I keep mine out. The only thing that might have been useful is a list of basic cooking times/ temperatures but it is quite easy to figure out. All in all a great piece of kit!
