Troubleshooting

My Philips PerfectCare Pure iron does not produce steam

If your Philips PerfectCare steam generator iron has stopped producing steam, there can be several reasons. Discover how to solve it yourself.

The steam button is not pressed

The iron does not produce steam if this button is not pressed. Please press and hold the steam button continuously. Then your iron will start producing steam again. When you release the button, the iron will stop steaming.

The steam generator is not hot enough to produce steam

Wait until the blue 'iron ready' light on the iron lights up continuously.

There is not enough water in the water tank

Fill the water tank beyond the MIN indication. Press and hold the steam button until steam comes out (it may take up to 30 seconds).

There is a delay in steam production on first use

Wait 30 seconds after pressing and holding the steam button.

If you are using your iron for the first time (or after you have installed a new Anti-Calc cartridge), the iron needs to fill itself up with water before it can generate steam. This can take up to 30 seconds after pressing the steam button. During this time you will hear a pumping sound.

You will also hear the pumping sound in normal use when the iron is generating continuous steam. You may experience a shorter steam delay after refilling the water tank.

The Anti-Calc cartridge is not fitted properly

Press down the Anti-Calc cartridge until it locks into position.

The pilot light Calc-Clean is blinking and/or there is a beeping sound

Your iron needs to be descaled or the descaling mode is activated. Please find more information on descaling your Philips iron here

The steam function is disabled as the cartridge is exhausted

Replace with a new cartridge. Follow the next steps carefully to reset the Anti-Calc reminder so that the steam function can be restored:

Step 1: Turn off the appliance

Step 2: Replace the old cartridge with a new one

Step 3: Fill the water tank if it is empty

Step 4: Turn on the appliance and wait until it heats up

Step 5: Steam continuously for more than 30 seconds
