You can go through different materials and not burn anything - the steam is very efficient - I cannot think of anything bad about it I have ironed heavy materials and found it to be good - you just need to use a bit more steam!

My hubby bought this iron for me last weekend. I read the quick start guide and used it immediately and was amazed how easy it is to fill/use/empty etc. It has speeded up my ironing and I'm really enjoying using it. I have just read the review from another customer who found the iron quite poor after a couple of months but fingers crossed this won't be the case.
Even little things like the Velcro fastening for keeping the cord tidy have been well thought out.

I thought this iron was brilliant when I first had it a couple of months ago, but have had to reconsider. Its performance has slumped considerably even though I decalc it every other week and use a soft water in it. I have just done a batch of ironing and it is disgraceful on cotton to say the least. I have to say that the fact it goes from jeans to silk can be a sort of plus, but its performance is really poor and leaves clothes very creased and of course you cannot higher the temperature as there isn't one. I would not recommend this iron if you do have a lot of cotton goods and I would be hard pressed to recommend it full stop. The design is dodgy too as when you need to empty it you have to either leave it in situ until cooled or try your luck at emptying it warm, you then have to lug the whole system to the sink tip it up and hopefully empty it without dropping it. I would most definitely not but this item again. It was great at first as I have said and now a few months later it is possibly less than average.

I've been using generator irons for years now, starting with a Polti and more recently using a Simac. I purchased a different brand yesterday and was left repeatedly waiting for steam and with some very wet clothes. That was taken back to the shop this morning. This Philips iron had a number of very positive reviews and I decided to give this a go. I've just completed about 2 hours of ironing and I'm really pleased with the results! I agree with all of the positive reviews. The tank still has aprox half of the water in it, it heats quickly and I've not had to stop to allow the steam to build up.
The actual iron is lightweight and easy and comfortable to use. The steam button has a double click feature for continuous steam so that you don't have to keep your finger on the button.
It's early days, but I am already very impressed with this iron!
