Rated 1 out of 5 by Verified Reviewer Gearbox siezed on chopper
I received a Philips blender and a breville blender for Christmas last year and I chose to use the Philips one first I was chopping a small quantity of meat when the gearbox seized so in disgust I put it back in the box I have used the breville ever since but yesterday my wife asked do we want to keep this Philips blender as it will not work and I started looking to see if a replacement blender lid was cost effective and came across this site

I've had this product for many many years and am only replacing as the two chopping beakers have cracked at the bottom edge, due to me dropping them, so I'm not easily able to use the rubber anti slip ring. They are still fully useable. It is a powerful machine and chops everything very well. This is my most used piece of kitchen equipment, used several times a day from breakfast to dinner. The parts are easily assembled and disassembled after use and everything goes in the dishwasher. I absolutely love it and will buy another, just hope it's as good as my old one.

As with other reviews, I have found that after a couple of uses I have been unable to chop anything in either the large or small beakers. The motor runs, but the blades do not move (very frustrating when you have just prepared everything).
The whisk and blender attachments work fine, although the whisk is not very strong, and I still use these. Unsure how Philips can happily sell an item which fails so quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RosieH Fantastic, powerful blender
Have had this blender for around four years. It's proved fantastic. We use it several times a week for blitzing herbs, vegetables, breadcrumbs and so on. Comfortable handle that's easy to grip. Had no problems with using for several minutes at a time, even on turbo mode. Probably our most-used and most durable kitchen gadget aside from the kettle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Cheekymum Chopper units failed
Fine for whizzing homemade soups, but then when i tried to use the larger chopper for breadcrumbs (how tough a job??) the unit failed. Today trying to chop small pieces of meat, the smaller unit has also failed. Hoped it was the fuse, but looking at these reviews it's gone to "hand-blender heaven!"

Rated 1 out of 5 by gilesg Poor quality
Like others who have posted comments my blender didn't last too long either. The two chopper units failed in exactly the same way that was described by others. A poor bearing that connects the drive spindle to the chopping blades. As soon as it tries to chop anything more than a liquid the tiny grooves on the drive spindle get stripped off.
I spent the extra money on a more powerful unti compared to my long lasting cheapie unit that finally failed after many many years. What a waste, it just lasted long enough for the warranty to end and then broke. Philips high price was wasted , it simply was a poor product. Avoid.

Rated 2 out of 5 by wrighto3 plastic fitting on drive spindle in chopper lid lets product down again
I have used this product for about 2 years now processing chillies, stem ginger and small pieces of onion and such like in the smaller of the 2 containers. However on trying to use the larger vessel for a greater quantity the drive spindle spins around without turning the blade even though pieces are small and not packed tightly.
Obviously a fault, having stripped the lid mechanism down, of the plastic cog housing for the drive spindle in the lid.(this is in common with other reviews).Come on Phillips, this weak point is letting an otherwise good product down. What's wrong with a metal housing. I wouldn't recommend product for this reason.
