I have had psoriasis for seventeen years now. Over the course of that period I have spent hundreds of pounds on creams, lotions sourced from Australia, Peru, Egypt, tablets, diets, homeopath, meditation, yoga lessons, advice etc.. you get the picture. My Dad would cut out articles from magazines and newspapers, citing the latest 'cure' for psoriasis, sending them to me with a note attached - 'maybe this is it?'.
Needless to say, it was never 'it'. After all, how can you find a cure when you don't really know what causes it?
So, I was left with Dovobet and diprobase as my long term companions on my psoriasis journey.
I had basically given up. I was fed up of trying miracle cures, only to be left disappointed, time after time after time.
I was on Twitter one day and stumbled across another psoriasis sufferer who was singing the praises of this Philips Blue Light.
Naturally, I was skeptical. I had heard it all before. The only things I thought were interesting was that Philips (I brand I know and trust) was involved (Why would they release something if it didn't work?) and that it was a blue light. I had heard of UV light (I treatment denied to me because my P doesn't cover more than 30% of my body) but never 'blue light'. How on earth could that help? I just didn't really understand it.
But, I kept thinking about it. I ummed and ahhed about it all for weeks. Was it really worth me bothering with what could be another snake oil treatment branded with a Philips logo?
I did some more research and found a bunch of other users who had found good results with it.
After more careful consideration, I bought the unit. It's not cheap. And I was hoping beyond hope that I wasn't making a mistake.
That was back in April.
When the unit arrived, I was surprised how small and light it was. It strapped comfortably to my leg (main psoriasis problem zone) and after switching it on... well, that was it. The blue light turns on and then you just get on with your day, without having to wash your hands or be careful you don't get ointment covered limbs on any fabric.
It feels kind of warm on your skin, but it doesn't hurt or make a noise in any way. Just beeps when your thirty minute treatment time is up and then you move it to another area. One full charge (takes about four hours) will give you two hours worth of treatment time, so enough for four patches.
After a couple of weeks of daily use (30 minutes p/plaque is recommended time), I started to notice changes in my skin.
1- not as dry. This was a big plus for me. I can handle the redness, but I hate the dry skin layering up. The Philips Blue Light significantly reduced the dryness of my psoriasis.
2 - not as itchy. Luckily, itchiness is not a big problem for me, but I do get itchy knees, where my P is a little thicker. The Blue Light again hit the mark and itch was reduced.
3 - flatter patches. Maybe it's just me, but my psoriasis has a kind of 3D quality (quality and P don't normally go in the same sentence!) to it. I notice it when I am wearing tights, I can see raised areas on my legs where my plaques are. I hate it. With this Philips unit, the plaques were flatter. MUCH flatter - almost to the point of normal skin level.
4 - lighter patches. After several more weeks, I noticed something else. The colour was changing. Finally! It was turning a pink colour, not the angry red I had been so used to.
5 - patch size reduced. This is the holy grail of any psoriasis suffer. Finally, after a few weeks of every day use, I did see a reduction in size of the patches. Or rather, the patches were turning into smaller patches, and in some cases, just spots.
So, does it work? Yes. Does it cure your psoriasis and make it disappear? No. At least, it hasn't for me, not yet anyway. But I am still in the early months of using it and am happy to continue to do so, as I am still getting a huge amount of relief and seeing continued improvement in my skin.
I am now also using two more of the newer units (larger and more comfy than this one), but this is still an excellent piece of kit. This is my first blue light, so will always have a space in my heart.
Finally, I can honestly say I have found something that works. If, like me, you are a psoriasis sufferer who is at the end of their tether, after road testing countless products, believe me, I know how you feel. This product will almost certainly help you. I would not recommend something to a fellow P sufferer unless I thought it was worth it. Please believe me when I tell you this is.

I suffer from mild plaque psoriasis on my knees, elbows and ankles. Having used the traditional methods of steroid creams from my doctor and not seeing any improvement in my symptoms, I was keen to explore alternative methods of treatments.
I have been using the Philips BlueControl for the last 3 months and it has helped my psoriasis greatly. I have seen reduction in the redness of my skin and the awful itchiness that comes with psoriasis has disappeared. The redness of one of my plaques has reduced so much that even I can barely notice it!
What I really like about the BlueControl is that it is a treatment that you can do at home and I manage how many treatments I need. The treatment takes 30 minutes and is pain free. The BlueControl gets warm during treatment but not overly hot. I like to use the BlueControl when I’m sitting down and watching TV in the evening and I don’t even notice that I have it on. I have used it while doing chores around the house but I found it slightly constricted my arm/leg movement, so my preference is to use it when sitting down.
The BlueControl is a compact device, about the size of a computer mouse. I have taken the BlueControl on holiday as it is a lightweight device and comes in a hard storage case. I took it in my hand luggage and had no issues taking this through security.
I’m really impressed with the results I have seen over the last few months. This will be my preferred treatment for my psoriasis and I feel like I have finally found something that is helping my skin without the use of steroid creams and the undesirable effects that they have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LianneH A great device to self manage psoriasis on the go
I've had psoriasis for 26 years and have given up looking for the miracle cures. Instead, I look for ways to self manage it, and for solutions that fit in to my busy lifestyle, as I often don't have time to sit still and relax for very long. This device is perfect for that - easy to use and carry, small and compact and very comfortable to wear. It holds enough charge for four uses, giving you good flexibility between charges. Most importantly, after 12 weeks of use, I've noticed a huge improvement to the patches on my arms, knees and legs - it has helped to reduce both the redness and the size of the plaques. Would recommend to anyone looking for ways to self manage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by eHRConsulting Excited and anticipating great results using BlueControl
I am just 2 weeks in using BlueControl and already I am very excited that finally I have found a treatment for my psoriasis I can depend on. I can now treat my plaques when and where I like and for once I feel involved in the longterm care of my condition. BlueControl puts me, the patient, in control. That's empowering and makes me feel good. I feel safe in the knowledge that Blue light therapy is free of the risks associated with other traditional light treatments available for psoriasis. I'm not expecting instant results and I'm prepared to spend whatever time it takes to see an improvement in my plaques.

I have been using Bluecontrol for a year now , and have to say I'm amazed by the results it has given me.
Being a mild psoriasis sufferer for over 20 years i have pretty much tried everything on the market ,
Bluecontrol has none of the greasy side side effects of typical streriod creams and none of the nasty side effects of uv treatment , which is a massive plus in my book .
My plaques have reduced I no longer have any flakiness and along with that no itching
If you have plaque psoriasis this product is a bit of a no brainer
