Ah, I think I have found the cause of this bug. If you cuddle the phone, and hold it tight to your ear, you effectively shield the antenna. If you are in a weak signal area in the house, or your house is built of power-station ash, which is high in carbon, then this extra shielding is enough to cause a breakdown of the DECT channel.
Hence the warning beep, and hence the drop-out.
The phone then needs not to be cuddled, but held between finger and thumb, leaving the antenna exposed as much as is possible.

Too many screens, far too sensitive when using it beeps, cuts out, cuts people off because ear rings catch screen, sometimes when dialling it will pick up a contact from stored list and ring them instead, occasionally freezes, absolutely sick of the alarm/silent feature placed just under time at top of screen being activated by ear ring.
On the plus stylish, effective to look at. we have 3 of these phones and all apply to the above comments

This is a home phone with a difference - it has bluetooth connectivity and links to both your mobile or mac so that your connections can be downloaded to the phone together with any images that you have of your connections. The phone works but there are a number of issues with it -
- the phone is too easily connected ie it's too easy to make an unintentional call when carrying it
- when searching for contacts it's quite difficult to control scrolling and the phone doesn't return to the letter that you've been searching on
- the answerphone has stopped working
It's both infuriating and a very useful phone

Rated 3 out of 5 by Saint123 Not what I was expecting
I have had this phone for over a year now. Overall, quite pleased with it, but the main reason I bought it was according to a specifacation sheet on the website, SMS/text was to be added in a firmware update in 2013. This has not happened, so in that respect I am very dissappointed with this phone.

Rated 2 out of 5 by sncder Great design, lack of quality.....
Great design and what most home handsets should look like in the future. Software leaves a lot to be desire because it has problems with international dialling codes, auto answer missing and a load of other features, which should be standard. Compared to other Philips handsets, this is a big step back. The software appears to have been developed by a novice. I expected a lot more quality and features on the software. Apart from that it looks great, but expensive for a very basic handset....

If you are a Mac user and wish to take advantage of the Phone Manager then be aware that Philips keep changing the goalposts. Originally software for Mac users was to be available in January 2013 (as per press release) this changed to Q1 of 2013 on their leaflets and now a revised leaflet replaces the date with Q2 of 2013. I'm pretty annoyed and am looking for a refund from Philips as I purchased this in mid-January with an expectation of full use by end of March. I can't use the phone as I intended and with over 150 contacts in my Mac address book I am not entering them in individually.

Very large screen, can see very clearly. Volume of ringer not high enough for me. Structure seems a little fragile compared to mobile phones - would not like to drop it! However, all the features of a mobile and very easy to navigate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by gadgetman Nice Looking Phone
A really Nice looking Home phone but a pain to set up, I'm running windows 8 and found it impossible to install the drivers for the software to run the phone. Finally installed on a different pc so managed to update the phone, but it wasn't an easy experience. The phone itself looks great but the screen isn't as clear and responsive as an iphone but its ok. Overall I think it's the best looking home phone on the market but I also own an iphone and there's no comparison for the touch screen but then again they are not competing against each other. Overall I do like it and would recommend it but it's not perfect.
