I bought this phone 5 years ago, but it induced a background buzz on my landline, so I put it away and used an old DUALphone instead. But this year I moved from 'down the phone line' Internet to Superfast broadband and tried the Philips phone again, with the base station using an Ethernet WLAN bridge rather than a cable. it now works very well indeed, without any background buzz. But for some reason, the phone will not store a Skype contact list - so all Skype outgoing calls have to be dialled by entering the alphanumeric name of the recipient.
It seems that neither Philips no Microsoft have any interest in fixing this problem - which is a real shame....

Rated 1 out of 5 by skypefan007 Stopped working since summer 2014
Microsoft updated skype to a point where this phone cannot communicate with neither Windows skype clients nor Mac skype clients.
So it has become useless.
An update would be necessary but I would not put my hopes too high.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jaime past it's prime
in the two years I've owned this phone there have never been updates. I received an email from skype indicating I was connecting with PC software that is soon to retire (I don't connect via PC!). My android phone is kept up to date. So. They must be referring to my VOIP855 which is why I say it's past it's prime. Two years of history suggest some day it will stop connecting and never get fixed. Asside from that operation can be a bit slow and clunky. you often have to hang up twice to disconnect, hence low score on ease of use. Performance making phone calls wise is good enough. Menu's are all over the place. Hence low score for (software) design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by 051039s Difficult to set up, worked so so for about a year, now unusable
I agree with all the criticisms and can add three more. 1) I first bought (and was never reimbursed!) a model which could not work in the UK without any indication from Philips that this could happen; 2) when I finally purchased a model which was compatible with the UK, the remote access to the answerphone never worked; and 3) over the year I've had this phone it has begun to crackle more and more, to such an extent that now the phone is unusable because of background crackle and I am seeking a replacement (which will certainly not be another Philips!)

Rated 1 out of 5 by Karolos Sadly disappointing. Lots of expectation but failed to deliver in the event
Purports to be easy to set up and use. Not so, one can set up a single handset but as you are only able to set 5 countries and NONE are England, it makes practical use extremely difficult. No English instructions are provided; fortunately I can read the Greek but even this has not enabled me to set the system up and the answering machine message defaults to Greek. As a business tool this has been a disaster. The additional handset fails to register. In all disappointing. I chose this item after careful research. In good faith I coud not recommend this to another based in UK or any of the countries NOT covered in the very restrictive set up menu

Rated 4 out of 5 by tlongdon Just the 44 issue on UK landlines
Looks good, easy setup, reasonable price.
I use it only for my Skype number subscription.
Only issues are: you HAVE to dial 44 instead of the first 0 for UK numbers. This is a pain.
Also, the buttons are not particularly easy to press.
But on the whole, it works great and makes having the Skype number subscription really worthwhile.
