Best shave I've had, using wet with Nivea cream
Moving up from my trusty HS8420 was a difficult decision, but after many years and a failed battery I needed something. A great deal from a high street retailer and I have the next generation. Been doing this for 37+ years and once again I wish I'd upgraded sooner.
I did try it dry, but mid shave I went back to wet and using my existing supply of Nivea sensitive cream. I did try the Nivea gel in a can, but as this ends up as a foam, which I hate, I went back to the cream. The combination is simply amazing.
As for the jet wash, I'm sure this is needed daily for foam users. However, for me and the Nivea cream once a week is more than enough in the jet wash to get it brand new and dry. Rinsing under hot water is enough each day, leaving the weekend to jet clean and recharge.
Simply an amazing product, once again from Philips...

Best shaver I have used
Very effective, very comfortable, fast and easy to use. Cleaning system is really helpful, even after normal brushing and rinsing.

Brilliant shave when new.
This was excellent when first acquired. Running the battery down then charging up gives over 70 minutes before recharging. The trimmer head's quite small but still does the job. I think the shave's almost as good despite having used the shaver for 8 months now and the blades must begetting a bit blunt. I can see a possible need to carry the charging base if away for a protracted period as the flex doesn't plug into the shaver but this hasn't been a problem for me. Overall, very good shaving experience.

Like the design, but didn't last very long.
I think that the shaver gives a good shave, is easy to clean under the tap and looks good, however, mine was let down by the poor quality of the electrics. It developed problems with the charging until it eventually packed in altogether after about 9 months of use.
I hadn't realised that the stand is needed to charge it, which makes it difficult when travelling light.
I had problems with lights not illuminating when I thought they should (as indicated in the user manual), but when I phoned customer services, their attitude was not very sympathetic.

Great product,a lthough mine has developed a fault
I've used Philishave shavers forever. This is my 3rd machine in the 25 years since starting to shave. I've always found these things excellent. All the shavers I have owned have been rechargeable and the battery life has been superb lasting as long as the shaver. Too many hygine products by other manufacturers have poor batteries which fail within a year or so, requiring the unit to be replaced. The battery is still fine in my old shaver. Basically, these things are built to last with quality components and are excellent quality.
The build of the latest Sensotouch 3D machine seems at least as good, although the clean system has developed a fault and I need to get it returned. The shaver itself though is great, performing as I'd expect a Philips shaver to perform. In particular, the torque of the 3D machine is such that the motor speed remains constant in use, giving a very even result. The cutting heads work great and the design of the head itself is much improved over my last model. The design of this shaver my well outlast the 14 years of my previous unit.
The only downside is the aqua system. When it worked, it seemed to do the job, but only lasted a couple of months befor failing completely. Also the fluid is extortionately expensive. I bought the stuff in bulk off the Internet but it was still very expensive. Would have rated full stars, only being let down by the aqua system.

Nearly perfect
Having always had Phillips shavers, I feel confident in saying that theSensoTouch is the closest shave I have ever had from an electric razor. Ive had mine now for about 12 months and overall I am very pleased with it. If I had a sensible criticism it would be the battery, which should be able to support more than 60 minutes of usage time. Other than that, it can be an odd shape to hold sometimes, but the heads get into places no other shaver ever has and it is a really close shave

I have used philips shavers for many years and thought I would upgrade my existing shaver (nivea HS 8000 series) for the new Senseo touch 3D RQ 1180 after using my old razor I have found it difficult to adapt to the new razor system . I have only owned the new one for about 5/6 weeks so I am hoping I will get used to it but my old razor is still my favourite but I hope I can get used to the new model.

This product is not fit for any use.
We purchased one of these product in October 2011 and the 3 rotating blades fell to pieces after 3 weeks. I thought that my husband may have been a little heavy handed - so I purchased a replacement head. It fell into pieces in my hand within a couple of weeks. I returned the head to your spare parts department and they refunded the money for the rotating head and we threw the whole thing away. What a waste of money.
I would never purchase another product from Philips
