The national Award - presented to Dr Manil Chouhan, Clinical Radiology SpR, NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow, University College London by Dr Erika Denton, Consultant Radiologist and National Clinical Director for Imaging, Department of Health
– was for the best essay of around 1,000 words on “How can innovation in radiology help deliver better patient outcomes in an era where we have an aging society, tighter budgets and high public expectations?”. The winner was awarded a Philips Pixel Plus HD digital TV with ultra-thin 40” screen plus a 3D playback Net TV Blu-ray Disc player.

The two runner-ups were Joanna Dixon, ST1 Radiology (Northern Deanery) and Dr. Avril Horsburgh MA, MBChB, MRCP, FRCR.
The award ceremony took place at the Junior Radiologist Forum on 6th June, during UKRC 2011, at Manchester Central Exhibition Complex, Manchester.
