Philips broadens LED offering in first of four launches for 2012

February 28, 2012

London, UK – This month Philips further expands its LED portfolio with a selection of new products and range extensions including both luminaries and lamps designed for the professional market. A further three product launches are planned for this year with new applications being unveiled in May, September and November. February’s line-up includes new architectural outdoor solutions, the uniquely designed LumiStone, a suspended uplight and downlight LED Luminaire and LED retail accent lighting which offers the highest light flux in the market.

There are also new additions to the MASTER LED range, which recently achieved sales of 1 million pieces in the UK. Extending the breadth of the lamps range is a new 5ft high output LED tube, MASTER LEDtube 34W,  which can provide an energy saving of up to 55%, the new MASTER LEDbulb 17W and MASTER LEDbulb 8W dimtone which provides a dimmable warm white light. In addition the AR111 becomes dimmable.

Lionel Roussel, Head of Product Management, Philips UK comments; “By extending our MASTER LED range we are making the switch to LED an easier and more enticing one, providing greater choice for our customers and ensuring the right product is available for any customer application.”

Luminaire Highlights:

StyliD Performance and LuxSpace Accent

Philips’ new StyliD Performance and LuxSpace Accent solutions are revolutionising accent lighting for supermarkets and fashion retailers, exceeding the performance of cHID high flux lamps. With extremely high light flux and long system lifetime, these are the only LED accent lighting solutions on the market that are able to deliver high light quality (CRI90) with three well-defined beams that create the perfect balance between the accent effect and the surrounding environment.

In contrast with conventional lighting technologies such as cHID, operational costs of LED lighting are significantly lower in terms of energy and maintenance, providing retailers with the opportunity to achieve energy savings of up to 20% without compromising on light quality. Furthermore, LED accent lighting solutions emit less heat and UV, ensuring longevity of products such as leather clothes and cosmetics which perish faster under conventional lighting.

StyliD Performance with its high lumen output (up to 4000 lm at 3000K¬) and the highly efficient family of recessed spotlights, LuxSpace Accent, which deliver high quality white light (up to 3200 lm at 3000K) are suited for all application areas in food and fashion retail. In supermarket environments they allow the creation of powerful accent effects for gondola ends, wine or promotional areas, and warm colour temperature for the bakery and fresh food areas. For fashion retail environments StyliD Performance and LuxSpace Accent’s beam definition and high CRI allow retailers to light fabrics in an eye-catching way, creating strong accents throughout the entire sales floor or in specific areas such as shop windows, shelves, or focused on mannequins.

With LumiStone, Philips explores the possibilities LED technology has to offer. Customers within the office, retail and hospitality sectors want to create spaces with a pleasant and inviting atmosphere and appealing luminaries can play a pivotal role in achieving this. Lumistone helps to create a truly inspiring environment with striking design and indirect lighting. LumiStone is the first suspended LED luminaire that is office norm compliant and can provide more than a 100 lm/W.

Lumistone was developed in partnership with Henning Solfeldt, design manager at PLH Architects. The inspiration for LumiStone was the soft curves of skimming stones, smooth to the touch and harmonious to look at from every angle. LumiStone consists of two smaller lighting units instead of one larger one, and is thin and smooth, reflecting the natural forms of nature.

LumiStone’s LED cups find the optimum balance between energy efficiency savings and making sure the light is not distracting to employees by creating a glare shield. A range of innovative mounting options make LumiStone extremely versatile in application. LumiStone also has superior light quality compared to similar suspended luminaires, with a ratio of 25% indirect and 75% direct light which creates an inspiring atmosphere by lighting up the ceiling and walls.
