Philips launches new patient monitors designed to provide access to high quality care at affordable costs

July 20, 2015

Guildford, UK  – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG AEX: PHIA) today announced the launch of

Efficia CM Series patient monitors in the UK. Supporting both budgets and clinical needs, Efficia is  designed to provide clinicians with access to high-quality care despite funding limitations. The monitors provide cost effective products for low to mid acuity settings. The solutions highlight Philips commitment to enhance access and enable quality care across the health continuum – from healthy living and prevention, to diagnosis, treatment and home care.

“As we innovate to improve health care, monetary constraints should not be a reason for limiting access to the best care available for improving a patient’s health. Because

budget and quality matter, Efficia is the obvious choice,” said Lee Moger, Business Manager for Patient Care and Monitoring Solutions, Philips Healthcare. “The Efficia series is designed to bring trusted and effective Philips technology and performance at an affordable price.”

Making quality care affordable

Effective patient monitoring can help improve diagnosis and provide earlier intervention, which is not only critical for improving patient outcomes, but can also help hospitals improve operational efficiencies. The Efficia CM Series patient monitors provide the same physiological measurements and algorithms that are present in other Philips patient monitors, but are designed to be more cost-effective and scalable to the needs of budget-constrained low to mid acuity settings. The series, which includes the Efficia CM100 and Efficia CM120, can be customised for a variety of patient types, and comes with an intuitive user-interface to ease the burden on a high pressure clinical workflow.

Containing costs, not capabilities

To deliver quality care, clinicians need to make quick, informed decisions when responding to an emergency and caring for a patient across the entire course of treatment. Jay Mangat Medical Physics Clinical Scientist from University Hospital Leicester commented “The new Philips Efficia patient monitor has some great features such as its touchscreen and screen resolution as well as being within my price range. I would see it being suitable for use in the general ward setting where you don’t need to connect to a central station.”
