Morning types tend to go to bed early and wake up early. Energy levels and functioning are highest at the beginning of the day.
Morning persons are early birds; they are the ones that may feel most energetic and perform best at the beginning of the day and feel sleepy in the evening. They often go to bed early, before 10 pm, and wake up early, spontaneously, around 6 am or earlier. Morning types may suffer only from a sleep deficit when they go out in the evening or stay up with a more evening type partner. Children and elderly are often early birds. Morning type behaviour could be caused by the biological clock in the brain running pretty fast and tending to give the sleep signal earlier each day.
