What are the winter blues (sub-SAD)?

The winter blues are a mild form of winter depression. Winter depression is also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder, SAD for short.

Doctors also refer to the winter blues as sub-SAD. Every autumn when the days get shorter, many people start experiencing the typical symptoms of the winter blues. If left untreated, these symptoms will last until spring, when the days get longer again.
