    How to connect external devices to my Philips device?

    1) Connect a TV. * Connect the S-video connection of the device with an S-video cable to the corresponding IN connection on the TV. Normally this will be a side-connection. In many cases it is possible to use an S-video to a SCART adapter for connecting to a SCART IN connection of the TV. Refer to the user?s manual of the TV whether there is a SCART connection that supports S-video. If you want to hear the sound through the speakers of the TV connect the LINE OUT audio connection on the device with an analogue audio cable (red and white cinch) to the corresponding IN connection of the TV. This can be the corresponding side connection or the red and white cinch connections on the S-video to SCART adapter. * If the TV does not have an S-video connection: connect the VIDEO connection of the device with a video cable (yellow cinch) to the corresponding IN connection on the TV. Normally this will be a side-connection. In many cases it is possible to use a video to SCART adapter for connecting to a SCART IN connection of the TV. If you want to hear the sound through the speakers of the TV connect the LINE OUT audio connection on the device with an analogue audio cable (red and white cinch) to the corresponding IN connection of the TV. This can be the corresponding side connection or the video to SCART adapter. Note: if you do not connect the audio separately you will only hear the sound through the speakers of the DVD/audio set. 2) Connect an audio device to listen to or record the Dolby Digital sound from a DVD playing back in the DVD/audio set. Make sure the DVD contains surround sound audio. * Connect the COAXIAL connection at the back of the device with a coaxial digital cable (cinch) to a corresponding IN connection of the surround sound audio device Select DIGITAL OUT in the AUDIO SETUP in the SYSTEM MENU. 3) Connect a video or DVD recorder to make a copy of a DVD. Note that you cannot make copies of a copy protected DVD. * Connect the S-video connection of the device with an S-video cable to the corresponding IN connection on the recorder. In many cases it is possible to use an S-video to SCART adapter for connecting to the SCART IN connection of the recorder. Refer to the user?s manual of the recorder whether the SCART connection supports S-video. Connect the LINE OUT audio connection on the device with an analogue audio cable (red and white cinch) to the corresponding IN connection of the recorder. This can be the corresponding cinch connection or the S-video to SCART adapter. * If the recorder does not have an S-video connection: connect the VIDEO connection of the device with a video cable (yellow cinch) to the corresponding IN connection on the recorder. In many cases it is possible to use a video to SCART adapter for connecting to the SCART IN connection of the recorder. Connect the LINE OUT audio connection on the device with an analogue audio cable (red and white cinch) to the corresponding IN connection of the recorder. This can be the corresponding cinch connection or the video to SCART adapter. 4) Connect an active subwoofer to enhance the bass performance of the device. * Connect the SUBWOOFER OUT connection at the back of the device with an audio cinch cable to the corresponding IN connection of an active subwoofer. * Note: an active subwoofer is a bass speaker with its own power supply. 5) Connect an external device to hear its sound over the speakers of the DVD/audio set. * Connect the analogue AUDIO OUT connection of the external device with an analogue audio cable to the 3,5 mm. jack AUX connection at the front of the DVD/audio device. Press AUX at the remote control to listen to the external source. 6) Connect a headphone. * Connect the headphone to the headphone connection at the front of the device. The speakers will be muted.
