How to connect a TV and Set Top Box to my Philips HTS?

    Published on 2017-08-24

You can connect the devices in different ways, depending on the connections of the devices and the use you make of them. 1) Connect a TV. The connections to the TV are: a video connection for playing back a DVD; and an audio connection for listening to the TV audio through the home theater set. * Video connection (only one connection is needed): > If your TV has an HDMI- or a DVI-connection connect the HDMI OUT connection of the device with an HDMI cable to the HDMI connection or the DVI connection (with an HDMI-DVI adapter, not supplied) of the TV (See the FAQ: Hook up the set to a HDMI compatible device). Do not connect the SCART cable. Set your video and audio preferences in the set up menus. > If your TV does not have a (spare) HDMI or DVI connection and has a YPbPr connection (red, green and blue cinch connection, also YUV) connect the YPbPr connection of the device with a component cable to the YPbPr connection of the TV. Do not connect the SCART cable. Set your video and audio preferences in the set up menus. > If your TV does not have (spare) HDMI or YPbPr connections connect the SCART cable of the junction box to a SCART connection of the TV. * Audio connection (only one connection is needed): > If your TV has a digital coaxial audio OUT connection connect the audio OUT connection of the TV with a digital coaxial audio cable to the digital IN connection of the junction box of the home theater set > If your TV has an analogue (red and white cinch) audio OUT connection connect the audio OUT connection of the TV with an analogue audio cable to the AUX IN connection of the junction box of the home theater set > If your TV has a headphones connection connect the headphones connection of the TV with an audio cable to the AUX IN connection of the junction box of the home theater set 2) Connect an STB. This connection is an audio connection for listening to the TV audio through the home theater set. Connect an STB only if the TV does not have an audio OUT connection. The home theater set does not accept 5.1 or 6.1 sound from an external source. > If your STB has a digital coaxial audio OUT connection connect the audio OUT connection of the STB with a digital coaxial audio cable to the digital IN connection of the junction box of the home theater set > If your STB has a digital optical OUT connection connect the optical out connection of the STB with an optical audio cable to a digital optical to coaxial audio converter. Connect the OUT-connection of the converter with a coaxial audio cable to the digital IN connection of the Junction Box of the device. >* If your STB has an analogue (red and white cinch) audio OUT connection connect the audio OUT connection of the STB with an analogue audio cable to the AUX IN connection of the junction box of the home theater set. 3) Connect the STB to the TV according to the user?s manual of the TV.
