OLED 42OLED808 4K Ambilight TV
Some weeks ago our old Phillips Ambilight Cineos TV passed away after 17 years of great service, only needing a new power board to be fitted 5 years ago. The TV was top-of-the-range in its day and the picture was still top-class until the day it died. Therefore having had a good experience with the Phillips TV & I was already sold on Ambilight the question was which Philips TV do I go for? LED 4K's are great, especially at the price but OLED technology is the way forward but the price is more and OLED TVs generally are in the 55-inch + area too big for our front room, so when I saw Richer Sounds selling this 42-inch OLED for less than a grand I went for this and I was not disappointed. Brilliant picture enhanced with the Ambilight the set-up was easy, I use Virgin Media and had this linked through the HDMI 1 port and my Blue Ray player through the HDMI 2 port. I don't game so I can't comment on the use of the TV for that, but the ability to use the TV for the internet is a big plus for me. The sound quality is excellent for a TV but for Movie watching you still need a surround sound system. The only annoying thing you have with these types of TVs is that they shut down for 10 minutes to do an automatic screen clean you can delay this but sometimes you can get caught out if you just happen to leave the room for a minute or two. The screen is super thin and very light compared to the old TV but I am comparing technology from 2 decades ago. To sum up I would recommend this TV especially if you can get it on a Black Friday Day deal for under a grand & you can afford the difference between OLED & 4K LED & that you need a smaller screen.
