Get through setup for a brilliant Hi-fi experience!
I'd read a heap of reviews for the A5 complaining about setup and thought it was lack of experience with electronics, but after getting mine earlier this week, I hit the same problems.
I won't bother moaning as I had it sorted within a hour of trial and error, please allow me to save you some pain...:
*Make sure you connect to the 2.4khz wifi signal if you have a mutliband router for setup! (After setup you can run off 5.4khz no worries!)
*Keep your A5 close to the router as possible, it's clearly easily rattled by other networks during setup. (If you know you're way around a router, adjust to a channel that is less used)
*If you get the change, download Airstudio+ APK from online, it's STILL AVAILIBLE.
Bear with it, it will work and when it does...
This is a FANTASTIC speaker. I rarely have my expectations blown out of the water but the A5 is BRILLIANT; The amount of power and control!.
I bought the A5 for my bedroom and I couldn't be happier, during setup I used this in my living room and was blown away by the bass response and clarity (had to tone the bass down!). It stood up to a full hifi; an incredible achievement for a small very very pretty diamond!
So yes, it still is a pain in the backside to setup, but once done, you forget straight away and enjoy your music in true style!

I purchased this after comparing it with the Sonos play5. The sound quality in my mind is far superior than the sonos play5.
It also looks great.
However that is it. The app is basic and slow.
I cannot find napster or spotity in the app despite it being advertised on the box.
All I have essentially is an expensive excellent sounding Internet radio controlled by my iPad.
If I cannot find out how to use napster or spotity I will be returning it

this product is excellent when working properly
had this product only from december 2012,when it is working it is in my opinion it is supurb but there are downsides to this. example, it continually loses its wifi signal,or it would work ok for a while then just lose its wifi signal for no reason at all, sometimes wont connect back again and i have to re-load it again, even though i still have a excellent signal on my android pad which i use to connect to. could do with a bit of research to the problems and then got a realy good product, great looks and quality sound as i would expect from phillips.

Impressive hardware performance. Software jeopardizes the whole experience
I was really impressed by the demo of the equipment in an electronics store and decided to take home the Fidelio A5. Philips is being consistent on the quality of the equipment and the long acquired know-how on sound systems. However, the way in which you interact with the equipment doesn't align by any means with the standards of the hardware. Both the desktop and mobile versions of the application is full of hiccups. The user interface seems to have been designed over ten year ago, poor flow and layout, constant freezes and really slow response turns the whole experience of reproduction a slightly painful process. Guys, I really respect and admire your work as a long time customer but, please, work on an upgrade for the media manager so that not only we can enjoy what the sound system has to offer and we keep having reasons to recommend your products.

I've bought 2 and they won't play the same music at the same time
I have two of these for different rooms and thought that it would be similar to one of philips competitors in that you could play the same music in both rooms at the same time. But you cannot.
Great sound daft design flaws.
Had to hard wire them as they kept dropping off the net, also you do not appear to stream music to them from spotify but have to log in each time as the app is in the machine not your phone etc which is a pain. Quite often it looses the actual spotify app,- folder is empty is displayed, then you have to reset the device start all over again.
So a nice box, excellent sound, terrible implimentation leads to loads of frustration.
Philips if you ever want to test one of your products before it goes to market give me a call as I cannot believe that any normal person would have signed off on so many issues.

The best WiFi HiFi I've ever seen.
If you're looking for a good looking Hi Fi with excellent, room filling sound which connects to your preferred music service and you're reading this review.
Then look no further, for you have found that device.
I've been in desperate need of a Hi Fi which connected to Spotify for a while now.
Something that connected to my Android smart phone/computer and Spotify through my home network, with a good standard of sound and not to look too out of place in my living room.
And every time I looked I just could not find one that fit the bill.
Until I one day wondered into my local PC world and had a gander at the Philips section.
The A5 caught my eye immediately, with its subtle diamond shape and metal finish.
I gave it a listen and quickly had to take it to max just to see if this quality of sound out of a medium sized system could last; it satisfyingly did.
There is some real power in this thing, and the angled shape means that sound fill the space beautifully.
I finally read the device features list and found myself thoroughly pleased :-
Wi Fi connection.
Works with IOS/Android and MediaManager for PC/Mac.
Connects to Internet services Spotify, Napster, tunein and Deezer.
This was a very good list to read after some of the featureless lists I've read in the past
Of course reading some reviews online while in store never hurts, and once I found they were all glowing I quickly had the box under my arm and headed for the counter.
The setup was easy:-
Download AirStudio App.
Plug In system and wait for the side light to turn white.
Connect to the network using AirStudio and run update.
Once complete listen to all the music.
AirStudio's interface sometimes leaves something to be desired, but once you're listening to your favourite playlist on Spotify this niggle will be forgiven.
I was looking for a capable WiFi HiFi, that would connect to everything I could think of when it comes to my listening habits.
And I have found such a HiFi.
When it comes to me and my music, I will be listening through nothing else but this from now on.

Superb design, astonishing sound, odd setup
After long research on WiFi speakers I opted for this middle sized AW5000. The aluminium top with the wooden back and the massive subwoofer makes the speaker one of the kind.
The initial setup feels a bit odd though. The Android app to drive it is OK, but once you start pairing the device the speaker cannot be found when using WiFi only.
I got a tip in the shop I bought it in. For the initial setup connect LAN cable to the speaker. In my case it worked like magic, all done in 2 min.
Also downloaded Twonky Server to play the music from a PC via an Android phone.
