Smoke MachineI purchased this machine on 5th January and by the 8th of January it was producing a strong burnt smell. On the 13th January it was billowing smoke all over my kitchen. It is now the 15th january and my machine has been returned for a refund, but my flat still stinks of burnt parts. It's a real shame as the 12 juices I did manage to produce over those few days were fantastic. I even chopped the fruit and veg into pieces to aid the process. I think pineapple (skin on) was the final killer, even though the pieces were chopped up fairly small. Really disappointed. I will do thorough research before my next purchase.

Easy to use and clean! This is my second Philips Juicer as I keep it in my apartment in France. It is very compact, attractive enough to leave it out in the kitchen. Juices very well and is easy to clean.

Motor burnt out in 4 monthsThe aesthetic design, cleaning and use is excellent. The most critical thing that needs review is the motor. The motor has burnt out after 4 months of use - there is a current theme of motors burning out, so Philips should review this. Thankfully so far the Guarantee is very good and Curry's have honoured this as a refund.

excellent juicer but poor instructionsProduct is simple to dismantle/clean/reassemble and produces excellent juice. It does not have a no drip function so you need to put a glass/cup under the spout when you remove the jug.
The instructions that come with it are very poor - there is also a quick start guide on one of the flaps of the box which is easily missed.
I would advise all purchasers to check www.philips.co.uk/support (then click on domestic appliance section) then go to quick help section and click on 'how to ..... juicer' guide for full instructions on using juicer ( including a video).
There are also juice recipes in the recipes section.

Viva the VivaI have had this machine for some months now and must say I am completely satisfied with it. Having looked at several juicers before purchase, this one is neat and compact and sits on the kitchen work surface. I enjoy all the different vegetable/fruit juices; it is easy to clean which is the main thing ... pulp is easily cleaned out (I use a silicone spatula!). The jug could be larger but hey this is not a problem.

why 4 starsSo far very pleased with juicer. I've not used it enough to see if there are any hidden problems ie breaking down like my last juicer did. Not very noisy- suction pads very powerful, stand it on a kitchen towel until you want it to stick.Much easier to clean than previous one. So far, so good.

Massive design flawI sadly bought a juicer HR1855/70/AJ which have to be one of the worst piece of household product I have ever owned.
Fruit and vegetables gets stuck on the six metal pieces that separate the base of the filter with the meshfilter itself, which causes massive vibrations and noise. The vibrations cause the plastic container for the pulp to fuse together with the motor part, so I have to use a screwdriver to separate the two things. And now one of the black plastic things for closing the juicer broke off.

Excellent juicer and easy to cleanI read the reviews on many platforms about the motor burning out, I also read that Phillips had improved the motor. I took a gamble and purchased one just over a year ago.....I use it at least five days a week ever since.....it juices like a dream. I put in whole fruits, apples etc....the only thing it struggles to juice properly are leave such as spinach or lettuce...sometime you get a bit of unjuiced leaf in your juice......not a bad enough problem not to give a 5 star review.
