Great machine, great coffee
If you like coffee and are used to the modern pressurized or pod-type coffee making, this machine will change how you view coffee.
You have to get used to how to make a coffee, water temp, grinding, tamping etc. When you have mastered that, you will never go back.
This machine is simple in principle and design and is there to make a great drink, as opposed to looking pretty. I have turned down several modern pod-type machine because the coffee they produce is just not good enough. Also, bean to cup machines suffer but this machine will reward always.
It is for coffee lovers and despite the price, one of the best manuals I have ever used and some of the best coffee comes from it too.

Learn how to make coffee properly.
This machine is a design classic, and has been successful over a long period of time for a reason. It is strong, reliable, and has excellent parts support. It is also a machine for the coffee purist. This machine can make an exceptional coffee, but you are going to have to do it manually. It is free of aids like pressurised filters designed to make a fake crema with stale coffee. Use fresh, carefully ground coffee, tamp correctly and flush and clean the machine regularly. The milk frothing aid is a very poor design, but you can froth milk very nicely without it or replace it with a different design very easily. Some complain about the way it looks, but you place one of these in your kitchen because you appreciate coffee, not art.

I am pretty particular when it comes to my coffee and I have no complaints about the Classic Gaggia. It is easy to use, no problem with frothing the milk, and I use it several times a day.
I was a long time, happy pour-over coffee brewer, but really wanted a proper espresso machine so that I could enjoy lattes and cappuccinos. I researched many machines in this price range and the Classic Gaggia really came out on top; I have been very happy with its performance.
