Good for colic - but fails the 3am testThe bottle is great once it's working - we really can hear the excess air venting around the anti colic adapter rather than being gulped into the tummy. So the design principle is super.
But I wonder if the designers tested the assembly at 3am themselves. We use a powdered baby milk and boiled and cooled water from a thermos flask. We prepare it all so that we have everything at the bedside, ready to go. So - open the top, first trying to balance the adapter ring on the bottle, then giving up and placing it on the bedside table. Then we pour the water, reassemble the bottle, give it a good old shake. Reopen the bottle to remove the blanking plug from the top, placing the now wet and slightly sticky adpater back on the table. Replace the plug with the teat, reassemble: and hope you've done it right.
The biggest problem is with the reassembly. There seems to be such a small window between leak tightness and overtightening that we've had our fair share of drips and spillages, either during shaking (not too bad, I suppose), or dripping all over the baby at night during feeding - not great at all. Once the assembly has "clicked", you've overdone it. The top sits at a jaunty but in the semi-darkness barely perceptible angle and there is a nice path between the threads for the milk to flow.
Basically, a redesign such that the adaptor stays with either the bottle or the top during disassembly and reassembly would be great, plus a little more thread engagement would help, too. (I know - more material, higher cost, etc...)

Great BottlesThe Avent Classic bottle has been great so far.
The progression of teats is straightforward and the abundance of accessories allows us to use these bottles with a plethora of other products in the Philips range.

great systemI've used this system for both my kids - it is great that I can interchange the teats, handles, etc with other products. The anti-colic system must work as I never had any problems with colic! Very easy to use and clean.
However my only complaint is the new 2-part design of the main bottle (9oz). It now has a shorter neck and an adapter ring to fit between the bottle and the screw-cap. It works well, but if you lose the adapter ring then expect the bottle to leak. To date I have had problems getting replacement part. The store I bought in doesn't have the adapter ring, and neither does the leading Mother & Baby stores.

hate the new adapter ring and plasticused avent bottles with my son 8 yrs ago when they had avent naturally on them. the plastic was better quality and no stupid adapter ring. bring back the original avent bottles please without the adapter ring and horrid milky colour plastic. if you lose the adapter ring you may as well throw the bottle away as it leaks without as the neck is now shorter! phillips u have changed avent for the worse, the new 3 in 1 steriliser is no good either. leaks and smells
