SmartSleepWake-up light: sunrise alarm clock with 7 sounds

I bought this alarm clock during a particularly dark winter, and I’ve had it over ten years now. It is honestly brilliant, and really helps with my S.A.D. I love the fact that the wake up is so gentle and you can change the sounds. My kids love it too, they love waking up to bird song. A great purchase. Well worth the price, and then some.

I went from working a 4pm to 4am job to immediately switching to a 6am start and was bought this as a gift from my boyfriend. The adjustment was made unnoticed, wakes me up completely naturally and with no need or want to hit a snooze. Would recommend to anyone who has an early rise!

This product actually exceeded my expectations and for someone like myself; that does shift work, it’s a great investment. Due to the change of start times in my working day I sometimes find myself struggling to get out of bed (I like to hit the snooze button more than once) but this alarm clock has really helped me feel more awake. I also really like the fact that with two gentle taps on the top it emits an orange glow of light during the night if you find the need to get up and that it has a USB port at the back; which I use to charge my phone. I would definitely recommend, and already have. Definitely worth the price.

I've been using this Phillips Wake-up light for a month now and can honestly say its changed my life (for the better!) I have had a problem sleeping with any light in the room and use black-out blinds to prevent this. Basically i never get any natural light in my room and always wake up startled, feeling groggy and annoyed when my alarm goes off. So when i saw the concept of the wake-up light it intrigued me and i had to try it. It has totally changed the way i sleep and more importantly wake up. I have tried all different lengths of times from 10 to 40 minutes for the light to go from a gentle glow to full sunrise - and have settled on 30 mins to be the perfect time for me with the beautiful bird song being my awakening 'alarm'. It gently brings me out of my deep sleep over the 30 minutes so that i am awake, yet dozing when the alarm begins. Fabulous - a complete life changer for me. I used to angrily hit my phone to snooze - fall back into a deep sleep to be rudely (angrily) awakened again. Now when i hit the snooze, i actually find myself meditating for the 9 mins - which is something i haven't done in years. Also not having to set my phone anymore to wake up. means i don't have my phone in my hand at sleep time which inevitably led to surfing the net when i knew it was a bad thing to do.... I did find it a little bit difficult to operate in the beginning which is the only reason for 4 star on the ease of use. Over the first couple of weeks i got it all sorted out and now i know exactly how i like my settings and how to work everything - its easy. I use the auto light at sleep time for 30 mins without any sound so it gradually dims - i don't know how it looks when its at its dimmest as i am asleep by then. i feel so much better in myself with my gentle awakening and actually start the day positive and happy to be getting up - my groggy angry mornings are now happily just a distant memory. and it looks pretty smart on my bedside table.
