4900 series4K UHD Slim LED TV

It upscales 1080p to 4k on gaming consoles and movie streaming; so if you're a big fan of picture quality then this is the one. However, you'll definitely need a soundbar if you want an immersive experience. The volume is okay if you're on your own, but once other people start talking or the kettle goes on, the volume doesn't seem to go up further after 26 or so. Got this for £200 in Argos on sale and my PS4 Pro and Xbox One looks splendid on it, definitely recommend if you've got the space.

When we first brought this TV home, me and my partner said (repeatedly) "it's so big!!" "WOW" and "IT'S SO CLEAR" amongst other things... We tested it with a few games both on our xbox 360 and ps4 and watched an episode of something on netflix followed by connecting up my laptop. Haven't yet tried connecting up to a tv aerial as we hadn't done so with the previous tv anyway, (which was only a 24inch) We were waiting for quite some time for a TV to come up that both met our needs and our budget at the same time so while it doesn't seem to come with Smart TV or free view, it's perfect for us to play our games and watch films when we please, we can look into connecting it for TV purposes at a later time if that ever comes up. Amazing picture quality and the sound from the speakers has good bass and an almost surround sound feel, I'll be looking into a soundbar just for extra effect on my next purchase! When I walk into my living-room I feel like it's a true part of the room with it's edgy design and it does actually look like it's floating!

reasonable price great picture what more could you want in a TV. We use for Freeview and Freesat viewing and it is equality good on both.

How do you activate the 4k? And the screen seems abit to dark...

So, after reading a lot of mixed reviews about this TV I decided to take a chance and buy one. A lot of the reviews state that the picture is poor and the contrast is awful and the colour unnatural. Well yes this is true if you use "out of the box" settings, but i find with all TVs not just Philips ones the "out the box" settings can be horrendous and fill you with that feeling of what have i done. After a little play with the settings and turning all the picture "aids" off, I can say that I as very impressed with the picture, especially when you take in to account the price point and its a 4k display too. I have my TV linked to a home cinema amp that handles all the equipment I have so a single HDMI cable to the TV (ARC ready too), with my amp set to allow a pass through of the signal so little to no interference on the picture from the amp too. When watching a NON HD channel the TV does a good job of not exaggerating the fact its not HD and it good picture, put on a HD channel and the TV starts to show what it has to offer, the picture is crisp and vivid, blacks are black and colours look rich and natural. When watching 4k the picture is even better, still looking natural and great detail. With gaming the games look as good as you would expect. With audio visual equipment, a lot is personal preference and what your eye and ear likes. I wouldn't disregard this TV based on what other people think, as i wouldn't recommend to buy it based on what i think, all id say is have a look and make up your own mind. Its not going to compete with a TV that cost the earth but at this price point it was the best I looked at.

I cannot understand why this TV doesn't have more positive reviews. This is my first Philips TV replacing another well known brand that broke after 18 months. Picture quality is outstanding and there are numerous options to tweak it to your liking. Sound is awesome, though getting the right personal balance takes some tweaking in the settings, but you will get there! This is a high quality product and great value. I would highly recommend and really glad I made the purchase.
