Farnborough, United Kingdom – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) signed the Armed Forces Covenant at its UK headquarters last Monday the 25th April. The event was attended by Dr Peter Homa CBE DBA, Director General Defence Medical Services, and cements the company’s commitment to providing employee support to reservists, veterans, and their families.

With this pledge Philips shows support for the fair and equal treatment of employees directly connected to the British armed forces. During the celebration, the contribution Philips veterans bring to supporting hospitals and trusts across the UK was highlighted, as well as their ongoing embodiment of respect and equality for the armed forces community.

We are incredibly proud to sign the British Armed Forces Covenant and pledge to the whole defence community, specifically our 40 veterans and their families, that we ensure the fair and equal treatment of the community across our armed forces services. The work our veteran employees partake in to support the health and care of the nation from delivering our integrated care solutions that meet the needs of service personnel to training medical teams on the ground is exceptional. Philips is committed to delivering focused support to our employees within the Armed Forces community, which is why it is so important that we made this pledge to those who serve.”

Mark Leftwich

Managing Director of Philips UK and Ireland

As a world leader in clinical diagnostics, Philips delivers advanced care and treatment across care pathways for the armed forces. With integrated care solutions that assist the armed forces, Philips contributes to the training of medical teams before deployment and provides lightweight medical solutions that support diagnoses at the point of injury, in transit or on the ground.

Furthermore, Philips is dedicated to providing employee support programmes which help reservists maintain a balance between civilian and military work, by offering additional paid leave to attend annual training or career courses.

Never has it been more important for employers to show recognition, support and invest in their employees and this year we celebrate the Armed Forces Covenant 10th year anniversary. Philips’ commitment to uphold the Armed Forces Covenant is a vital step forward in supporting the work of the Armed Forces. So much so, Philips recognises its employees as valued members of its network and the real people behind the wealth of skills, expertise, innovation and entrepreneurs driving the Philips business forward.”
