Philips Bluetooth stereo headsets support the Headset and Hands Free Profile for voice communication and the A2DP and AVRCP Profile for music streaming and remote control.
You can connect the headset simultaneously with a device that supports the Headset or Hands Free Profile and a Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) source, but not with two voice or Bluetooth Stereo devices. This capability allows you to listen to music and pick up any incoming calls, with the music stopping when you take the call and continuing after the call ends. (A feature called “StreamSwitch” in Philips headsets).
In practice this means you can:
- Connect your Bluetooth stereo headset with a Bluetooth audio adapter (supporting the A2DP profile) and a mobile phone (HSP, HFP) at the same time
- Connect your Bluetooth stereo headset with an A2DP-compatible phone (which typically also supports HFP and HSP) and listen to music and monitor calls at the same time
- Connect your Bluetooth stereo headset to a PC via a USB Bluetooth adapter and listen to music and have VOIP conversations (the software for USB Bluetooth adapters typically supports a number of profiles; newer kits typically support both A2DP and HFP/HSP)
- Connect to only one device using only one profile (HSP, HFP or A2DP with AVRCP)
NOTE: the HSP and HFP profiles offer limited-quality mono sound only. Refer to the user manual for your device.
