Innovation is more than just creating better and newer products. It’s also about adapting our product design for sustainable and long-lasting products. That’s why we are changing the way we offer products to you, shifting away from buying a product to having access to a product when you need it. All with the aim to use as little raw material as possible. An example of access through reuse is our Philips Avent breast pump, which can now be rented via Philips website in the Netherlands and via pharmacies in France. Products like breast pumps are typically used for shorter periods of time than many other goods, so enabling reuse via rental can significantly extend product usage.
Our first refurbishment program is another way we aim to keep products (and the materials they are made of) in use for longer. The environmental impact of a refurbished product is lighter than buying a new product because the need for raw materials and new parts is reduced. To complement EcoDesign practices, we’ve developed new ways for people to access our products. Try&Buy for Lumea IPL devices is an example of that in action with devices being taken back and refurbished once you no longer need the device, ready for a second life.
Great products get a second chance when you choose refurbished. Expect guaranteed Philips quality, a 2-year warranty, and less waste.
We’re improving product usage and reducing raw materials both through our Try&Buy model for Lumea IPL, and rental option for Philips Avent breast pumps.
Extend the life of your products with the help of our Service & Repair team.
We’ve scaled up from one country in 2019. In 2022, we sold more than 39,000 refurbished products, helping us save precious resources and reduce waste.
We continue to increase the amount of materials that we recycle and re-use, while phasing out waste where we can. Recycled waste can be transformed into materials for other products, which reduces our environmental impact.
This allows consumers to keep products longer by exchanging parts or repairing their products via local repair shops.
