No, the TV is not designed to display 1080p from an external device, even though the TV has a panel resolution of 1920 x 1080p and is described as Full HD. This is stipulated by hardware so it will not be possible to change this by a software upgrade.
Set the output resolution of the external device to the HD resolution of 1080i or 720p.
