The right hair removal solutions in the right places

    Straight line

With some many different ways to remove hairs, you might be wondering what the options are, and which of the options are right for you. Starting with the more common methods and moving to the more unusual, we’ll explore the techniques you can use to stay smooth.

    Shaving

One of the more common methods, and the one that’s least likely to require you to buy extra equipment. With care, you can shave anywhere on your body that you want to. Use a trimmer with adjustable length of combs to cut long hairs down to as short a length as possible, and the use either a body groomer, the Philips OneBlade with the sensitive skin guard attached or a traditional razor to shave.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your particular shaver or trimmer to ensure that you’re using the product correctly.

    Waxing

A rarer but not uncommon method, waxing pulls hairs up from the roots and therefore produces longer lasting smoothness when compared to other methods. The downside, famously, is that it hurts (or so we hear), and can lead to redness and skin irritation afterwards.

Home waxing kits are widely available, although they are generally targeted at a female audience, and you can also visit a salon to be waxed professionally.

You can wax pretty much anywhere on your body with the exception of your face and head, but check out the instructions for your specific product before using it.

    IPL

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) devices are less common than shaving or waxing when it comes to male grooming, but they can offer painless and long-lasting hair removal.  An IPL device as the Philips Lumea uses gentle pulses of light to stimulate the roots of hairs into their resting phase, which causes the hairs to shed naturally, and delays regrowth. Because IPL acts on the roots of the hairs, rather than cutting them at the surface, the finish can feel smoother and last for two weeks or longer.

IPL devices are a great choice if you want to remove hair from your chest, back and other areas, but be aware that it’s usually not advised to use the product on your genitals, face and some other areas. While other IPL products and professional lasering services are available, you can never be too careful when it comes to your genitals, so be sure to do your research before trying a new hair removal treatment.
