LCD TV

This is by far the best TV I have owned. I have always been a fan of Philips products and their TV's in particular. I have 3 at present as well as a Panasonic 3D however for picture, sound and performance the 40PFL9704H is hard to beat. The picture is excellent and is stunning in HD although the SD is so good it can be difficult to recognise if you are on an HD or SD channel at times. The sound which comes with the backing of built in subowoofers and tweeters is so rich and vibrant that I deciding against setting up my surround sound system after hearing it. To top it off you have the excellent Ambilight Spectra 3. In summary, couch potato Nirvana. Thanks Philips I'm forever in your debt.

Can I trade inn my hd tv for 3d and if yes, where can I go and do just that, because I love to have Philips 3d tv but I can not afford to have two 47inch in house. Please help thanks.

This tv has an excellent array of features. Surely at this moment in time (November 2011) newer things have evolved. This tv has excellent picture quality, which is also helped by its amazing contrast ratio of 5mil : 1 As well as having excellent contrast, this Tv has amazing sound, internet capabilities (Wired & Wireless) , a huge amount of HDMI ports (5 Ports if I remember correctly) , and amazing ambilight. The only downfall I can say with philips Flagship models, which this was for 2009/2010. Is that they are very limited stock, and the prices are very steep.

This TV lives up to the reviews I read prior to purchase: the picture is super-bright and super-sharp. The sound quality is also exceptional for a flat-screen TV. Although the NET-TV functions are attractive, I find the user interface clunky in use. I tend to use the iPod/iPhone app to control net-tv functions, such as YouTube videos - it's much easier!

There are very few apps and navigating is difficult using the remote. The TV guide is poor but since I use Virgin media it does not matter. The built in Freeview tuner is OK but lacks HD. Ambilight is a great feature and enhances the viewing experience. The latest models in the 9000 series seem to address all the deficiences.
