Stunning luxury TV
In CRT days, all the best TVs we had or I saw at other people's houses were Philips - they always had such a warm and inviting picture. For some reason, when it came to buying my first LCD, I tried another brand but it always felt like something was missing - the picture just lacked something I couldn't quite put my finger on. When it came to buying a new Smart LCD-LED TV, I decided to follow my heart in a nostalgic way and try Philips again (it reminded me of childhood, because I always saw them as a kid!). As soon as I unpacked the 8007, I knew I had something special in my hands. The beautiful, thin dark grey metal bezel, ingenious QWERTY remote and high-end accessories screamed quality. Once I switched it on and to my preferred picture mode (Movie), I was truly stunned. I can honestly say in all the LCD TVs I've owned or watched (which is many!) I have never seen a picture quite like the Philips. Basically, it's like watching a CRT in HD, without the flicker. As for the sound quality - again, I was amazed. It sounds like a classic CRT, warm and enveloping - kudos to Philips' designers for getting that out of such a small stand (the speakers are in the stand). I'm still getting used to Ambilight, but it works great for music videos and concerts. In all, an incredibly good TV and a real shame that Philips aren't widely enough recognised (maybe they should make their TVs more widely available - I could only find it at one UK retailer).
