Subtitle Shift for widescreen without any missing subtitles
Subtitle Shift is an enhancement feature that lets users manually adjust a movie's subtitle positioning on the television or computer screen. Using the remote control, users can shift the subtitles up and down on the screen. On widescreen displays, such as 21:9 cinema and projectors, the subtitles sometimes get cut off. In order to see them clearly, the user has to change the display aspect ratio, which defeats the purpose of the widescreen. With the Subtitle Shift feature, the user can retain the correct display aspect ratio and have the subtitles ideally positioned on the screen.

I bought this for watching BLU-ray in stereo in the kitchen on a philips 274E ultra-HD monitor as not mant players come with a stereo output. Player is a bit slow to load etc but it has a sort of querky charm. Hi quality components inside and has been dead reliable. I paid £25 second hand, as always the quality of philips electronics is excellent. Highly recommended bargain if you can find one.

Blu-ray disc player BDP3100
The picture quality of my DVDs is sharper than on my earlier player (of 2002 vintage). The installation was fairly straightforward and I have used the Internet connection to check for software updates. I am not yet familiar with all the remote control options, but have used the main ones successfully. The player has a black finish and is in no way obtrusive. It seems to me to be good value for money.

Very vesatile - plays everything!
Cannot fault this excellent player. You can pay a lot more to get a lot less - or you can get a BDP3100.
