CarStudioCar media docking system

I was looking for a decent iPhone holder, a phone kit and a stereo that I could link my phone to. This unit does it all with great clarity, easy to install and great sound. The phone works and sounds clearer than other professionally fitted systems I have had in the past. The iPhone app is a bit clunky and needs refining, so I am 90% happy. I would be 100% happy if I can work out how to get the sound from my iPhone sat nav app to play through the speakers.

I needed a new head unit in my Porsche with bluetooth handsfree and an iPhone dock. This unit was absolutely perfect and I bought it within the first week of it being available. Unboxing was a pleasure and fitting was really easy. I get quite a lot of road noise in my car, particularly when the roof is down, but the noise cancelling is truly spectacular and I've had loads of positive comments from colleagues about how they can now hear me! Sound quality is excellent. Better than the unit it replaced. Docking is easy, you can even leave your protective case on as the "clamp" that secures the iPhone is width adjustable. The iPhone rotates through 90 degrees. The Car Studio app acts as a front panel to the unit, but you really don't need it. It is a nice idea but I feel it needs a little more thought and development before I'm likely to use it. TomTom runs seamlessly and music/radio fades in and out as announcements are made. The FM/AM radio is again superior to the unit I removed - and that was no slouch! The unit feels well made and solid in design - I can't recommend at enough at this price point.

Bought this as a replacement for an old HU that i had in the car, 1st unit worked well but had to replaced due to the rear RCA ports not working, which was replaced without hassle, 2nd unit has been flawless. Easy to use and the option of having the unit lights switch off is excellent for night driving, Sound quality with all the extra's is much better than my old one, and the inbuilt port is very useful, and having the option for landscape mode with the position of my unit is a real bonus (would be nice if it was possible to have the ipod playing with the dock hidden too). If you only have an Ipod you can still connect it to the dock and use a separate phone via the Bluetooth for calls (some will let you play music from them too), the noise reduction and call quality is brilliant, and you can hear the other person clearly. My only real gripe and the only real flaw is the App (you can just use the Ipod/Iphone's normal music player), It really is terrible, needs a lot more work, volume slider is useless, music navigation is useless, frankly the whole app needs to be re-done. Is there any reason it couldn't be as nice to use as the Android version, with its push volume controls etc.

Bonnes qualités sonores, simplicité d'utilisation, design correct. Seul bémol,ne prend pas en charge toutes les clés usb.( attention à l'encodage!!!).

the stereo is fine, good sound, ok tuner. the problem is the app - it is hopless: full of bugs and downright dangerous to use if driving. the display on the head unit is unreadable in any type of glare, probably ok on LHD cars but not RHD. As many others said - please spend a few quid on the app, it would be a great stereo if you did.

Bought this android version, mainly for the integrated hoder which is great, the problem is the app. Car studio wont connect to the unit, but the unit says its connected, i can play audio, use the phone etc. but the app says it cant find the unit. It appears that the phone(a nexus 4) pairs automatically, but the app is unable to use this and wants to connect but cant as its already in use. If i unpair then let the app find the unit it works fine, but if i switch off/on im back to the original issue. But the dock is great, the hands free is fantastic even using the inbuilt mic., sound is very good, my satnav app (waze, fantastic and free ) works brilliantly. Sort the app. out and it would be 5 stars.

I bought the unit when it first came out at Halfords, and though- Fantastic! However, having lived with it for a while I find that the system has some basic issues, such as: 1. Radio RDS just doesn't work. My previous unit could track stations through the various frequencies no problem, this one fails at this miserably, even with the main UK stations that have full national coverage (i.e. Radio1/2/4). 2. When docking my iPhone4s it instantly starts playing the very first song in my iTunes play list, not remembering my previous attempts to keep the shuffle function live, or picking up from where I left off the night before. No... It just goes back to the first song in alphabetical order to the point where I now hate my first track's intro. 3. The design is obviously for the European driver, with all the function buttons on the left hand side of the docking station and are therefor not really visible when the phone/iPod is docked which means that if you want to properly engage with the unit you'll need to start the free app, which leads me on to the app. 4. Please spend some money on the iPhone App! Farm it out to a group of kids who have an interest in design and let the loose on it. Pick a winner and pay them a royalty. Simple. The sound boosting options are distorting, the ability to move the sound around the vehicle is a nice tweak but why not have the ability to use only the rear speakers? I can select the front only, but not the rear? This would be handy for my kids who watch films on the iPad with the audio going to the speakers through BlueTooth. I don't want to hear what's really going on too. 5. Make the app/unit REMEMBER what track I listened too first! Make it remember my shuffle settings... Just give it a memory! 6. Where O where can I buy a mic that will fit the small plug in the rear of the unit? None of the standard mics available fit. As my vehicle does have a bit of background noise, I'd like to have a mic fitted to strut so that people can hear me clearly. Other than that, nice attempt, but get the App to do more!

El sonido, es muy bueno, la radio sintoniza todo (estoy en MéXico), la reseña escrita es de un espanol, en general es fácil de entender. que mejoraria para poner 5 estrellas: 1) Conector para iPhone 5, (voy a intentar con un acoplador de 8 pines) 2) La expulsión de la base desde el compartimento del estereo es incomoda y no sabes si se va a dañar a la larga con tanto jaloneo. Le daria un ajuste de expulsión electrónica con motor.
