Movies (Videos) can be played only back from the disc-player (DVD) and not from the USB-device (HDD/Memory stick). Photos stored on the storage media connected to the USB-port can be shown only on the unit local display. If you need to display photos on the TV, you need to store the photos on a CDR/CDRW/DVD-R/DVR-RW disc and play them back from the disc-player (DVD) unit.
