How do I create and manage maps in my Philips HomeRun app?

    Published on 11 July 2024
Read the article below to find out how you can create and manage a map of your home in your Philips HomeRun app.
    XU series robots

    How does mapping work?

Your Philips HomeRun vacuum and mop robot can generate a map of each floor in your home, up to a maximum of five maps.

The robot drives through the rooms and the laser navigation quickly scans the rooms to build a map of the floor. It detects furniture to create the most efficient path for future cleaning runs.

Once you have created a map, you can set up restricted cleaning zones to specify where the robot can clean and where it cannot.

    Preparing the room for mapping

Before you start mapping, make sure that you:
    • Tidy up the area.
    • Put furniture in its usual place.
    • Put away loose and small obstacles to avoid permanently storing them on the map.
    • Open all in-house doors.

Creating a map for your 7000 and 3000 Series

The information below applies only to the 7000 and 3000 Series.
When creating a map for a particular floor, it is crucial to position the station on that specific floor. The robot must be in the station during the mapping process. For instance, if you want to map the second floor, ensure that you place the station on that floor during the mapping process. Afterwards, when you want to clean a specific floor, select the appropriate map from the app.

To create your first map using the Philips HomeRun App, simply tap the "Create map" button on the home screen directly after pairing the robot with the app or when no map has previously been created. Once the robot has returned to the station, you will be able to view your new map in the app. To create more maps, go to "My Maps" in the main menu and click "Create map".

    Important
    • During mapping, your robot will not clean.
    • For modelsXU3100andXU3110only, after the robot has completed its mapping run, the Auto-empty station will start emptying the robot. You will hear a loud suction sound, but this is normal behaviour.

Creating maps for multiple floors for your 7000 and 3000 Series

The information below applies only to the 7000 and 3000 Series.
To create a map of an additional floor, the station must be placed there during the mapping process. It is important that the robot starts from the station and returns to it when the mapping process ends. To create a new map, in the HomeRun app go to "My Maps" in the main menu, then click "Create map" or select the "plus" icon in the top right-hand corner. Then follow the instructions in the app.

Your robot can generate a map of each floor in your home for a total maximum of five maps. You can lock up to three maps to prevent them from being overwritten:
    • Go to "My maps" in the main menu.
    • Select the pencil icon in the top right-hand corner – lock icons will appear.
    • Slide the lock icon of the maps that you would like to (un)lock.

Once the map of the additional floor has been created, you can use the robot even if the station is on another floor. Just select the right map in the app, and the robot is good to go:
    • Go to "My maps" in the main menu.
    • Click "Use map" to use the map of the floor you would like to clean.

Setting up restricted cleaning zones for your 7000 and 3000 Series

The information below applies only to the 7000 and 3000 Series.
Once you have created one or more maps, you can set up restricted cleaning zones in the Philips HomeRun App:
    1. Go to the home screen and click the "map editor" button in the lower right-hand corner of the map.
    2. Select the zone you want to set up.
    Virtual wall or No-Go zone
Create Virtual walls and No-Go zones for areas you do not want the robot to go to. For example, you can create Virtual walls or No-Go zones to protect fragile objects or to prevent the robot from falling down the stairs.

    No-Mop zone
Create No-Mop-zones to prevent the robot from mopping carpets or rugs.
(Only 7000 Series) You can choose the following options for a No-Mop zone:
    • Avoid No-Mop zones when the rest of the room is mopped.
    • Only dry vacuum the No-Mop zone in dry cleaning mode. Note: the mop may still be moist.
    Gentle zone (Only 7000 Series)
Create Gentle zones on your map for areas where you want the robot to climb more carefully.
    Important:
    • When setting Gentle zones, make sure that they are at least 1 m away from doors so that your robot can go into those rooms.
    • When creating Virtual walls and No-Go zones, make sure that they do not prevent the robot from returning to the station. Keep an area of 1.5 m in front and 0.5 m on both sides of the station free.
