Portable Radio

excellent reception on dab and fm, sound quality is very good, great battery life, great value for money

Pleased with this product as it's small and compact and therefore doesn't take up much room in the kitchen where it lives. The sound on FM and DAB is clear and it's great to have the extra channels you can only get with Digital Radio too. Sure, you have to hold it with one hand when you press the buttons with the other or it'll fall over on account of its size, but that's not really a problem.

Great looking and practical portable radio. Fast tuning but slow auto switching of channels. This DAB radio is badly let down by its lack of protective lock mechanism to prevent the radio from accidental switching on especially when on the move or when inside your luggage. Manual Lock is a feature very essential in most portable radios. Also, radio text displays are unclear and flickering when scrolling across. I returned my first purchase thinking it was faulty but the replacement has the same flicker! Could be a lot better for a Philips product!

I was impressed with the performance of this radio and then found an unexpected fault. Instead of true mono sound when listening through the speaker it is the left channel of a stereo broadcast. The right channel is barely audible. As a result, some rock songs sound a bit strange! I have had two of these radios both affected by the same problem. Listening with headphones is fine so it must be a wiring issue to the speaker and I am surprised that this hasn't been picked up by QC. Some listeners may not care but I have returned the unit for a refund.
