Clock Radio

Happy with this device as a clock and alarm, waking to radio is pleasant enough too. Operation is just too fiddly, storing stations could be a lot easier, but my biggest problem is the sound, if a voice is at a certain frequency there's a lot of speaker/casing resonance which is annoying and sounds like a distortion that makes it hard to understand some words, doesn't even have to be that loud to do it either, just over 2/3rds volume. Don't listen to music on it but imagine it would be worse with it's fuller audio spectrum. volume goes from 0 to 30 but anything below 10 is too quiet to be any use, so it wastes a third of the increments and step changes after that can be a bit too low too a bit too high to get your ideal listening volume.

I take some time to come round each morning and like to listen to the radio for about 45 minutes before I get up. This alarm clock wakes me up at the right time and has great sound quality when using the DAB features. Unfortunately that's all the positive stuff finished with. There are no real instructions with the device when you unpack it and therefore I assume that I don't operate it properly. The radio goes off after 30 minutes and I don't know how to extend this time period. The radio can be turned on again by pressing a multi-function button on top, but this is a bit hit and miss and I continuously change from DAB to FM instead. The clock display is difficult to read unless you're directly in front of it. I placed my radio on the cabinet beside my bed, which is about 20cm below my pillow height. The display cannot be seen at this angle. Overall I would rate this item poorly because it feels cheaply manufactured and of poor design and quality. I do not doubt that technically it is very good. It's a real shame though that this technical excellence doesn't make up for everything else.
