This compact battery shaver is excellent to use and very mobile and good close shaves.

This no-thrills shaver from Philips is an absolute bargain at currently under a tenner from their online store. I purchased one this week and was surprised that it came directly from the Netherlands (where Philips is based) via UPS with tracking. Yet the delivery cost was the same as what it would cost in UK, at just under £3! Delivery took about 3 days. So what do you get for a tenner? Well for this price I wasn't expecting very much, but I was pleasantly surprised. When I first opened the box I immediately noticed there was no adaptor/charger or even a lead and thought they must of forgot to send one. However it soon became apparent that the shaver uses ordinary AA-size batteries (Philips included two standard Alkaline batteries) Obviously by not using a proprietory built-in battery and charger, Philips have managed to keep their costs low. For some people this may inconvenient, but I personally prefer being able to use my own rechargeable batteries. It's better for the environment as it means the shaver is not one of those throw-away shavers once the internal battery dies. So how well does it perform? The shaver uses two floating heads which are described by Philips as using "lift and cut" technology for easier shaving. I can definitely confirm this. Not only does the shaver give a really close shave, it also does it quickly and effortlessly. It handles longer stubble easily in difficult areas. And the final icing on the cake is that the shaver is super-quiet in operation you would hardly notice it's on. A great buy! I would certainly recommend it if you're looking for a low-cost shaver that delivers on performance.
