There is no backlight on my Philips clock radio

During the battery power low mode, both radio and sleep, the sound effects, and the backlight will not function. Operation of any alarm mode automatically changes to a slow buzzer beep frequency. Place fresh batteries in the battery compartment or connect the set to an AC power supply.
