How often should I use my Philips Lumea?

    Published on 18 October 2024

Lumea treatment consists of an Initial treatment phase and a Touch-up phase. The Initial phase consists of 4 treatments in total, one every 2 weeks (with 14-day intervals). The Touch-up phase consists of one treatment every 4 weeks.

Note: the cycle of hair growth consists of different phases. IPL technology is only effective when the hair is in its growing phase. Not all hairs are in the growing phase at the same time. This is why we recommend following the Initial Phase (4 treatments, with 2 weeks between each of them) with a Touch-up Phase (1 treatment every 4 weeks) to make sure all hairs are effectively treated during their growing phase.

Tip: use the Philips Lumea IPL app to support your treatment routine.

Read on to find out more.

    Initial treatment phase

For the first 4 treatments, use Lumea once every two weeks (14-day intervals) to ensure that all hairs are treated. Treat yourself within 3 days before or after the planned treatment date.

    Touch-up phase

After the Initial phase (4 treatments), perform a treatment every 4 weeks to retain effective hair growth reduction. Treat yourself within 4 days before or after the planned treatment date.

Note: Results may vary based on your individual hair growth and across different parts of your body.

Will I see better results if I use my Philips Lumea more often?

No, using your Philips Lumea more often than specified in the treatment schedule will not increase its performance in time or results.

Do not treat the same area multiple times in one session, this will not increase performance and increases the risk of skin reactions.

What should I do if I missed a treatment?

Try to stay close to your planned treatment dates. If you deviate from the treatment schedule, you may not achieve the intended results.

If you missed a treatment during the Initial treatment phase, you can continue with the original planned schedule. You may add one additional bi-weekly treatment to your Initial treatment phase.

If you missed a treatment during the Touch-up phase, you can continue with the original planned schedule or you may choose to restart the Initial treatment phase.

    When will I see results?

After the first treatment, it can take 1 to 2 weeks for the hairs to shed. You may still see some hairs growing after the first few treatments. These are likely to be hairs that were not in their growing phase during the previous treatments.

After 2-3 treatments, you should see a noticeable reduction in hair growth. However, to effectively treat all hairs, it is important to keep treating according to the recommended treatment schedule.

After 4 treatments, you should see a significant reduction of hair growth in the areas that you treated with Lumea. A reduction in hair density should be visible as well.

I am not happy with my results after the Initial treatment phase

You may choose to add an additional bi-weekly treatment to your initial treatment phase. Claimed results are based on the indicated treatment schedule. Individual results may vary.
