Poor designAbysmal product poorly designed and useless cutting settings. Swiftly returned product and purchased superior competitors product. Sadly, Philips quality has nose dived over the years.

So soSadly my original 180' hair trimmer wore out and I set out to replace it. As usual and to quote the old adage..."if it ain't broke why fix it?"...you guessed it, Philips had to mess the latest 180'model up. It was utterly useless, cheap plastic and did not cut well...in short, not fit for purpose so I returned it to the shop and got a refund.
I have since purchased a Philips series 5,000 hair trimmer in the hopes that it would be better...it is just about, not a patch on the original 180' and a struggle-due to abysmal design-to even cut a decent number 1 haircut and hardly worth raving over!

Great But Let Down By Poor Comb AttachmentBought this last year and used it frequently since.Edging, especially around the ears, is difficult if using on your own but overall I'm very pleased with results. The only thing that you must be wary of is that the small precision comb is either of poor quality or design ; mine no longer stays fixed in the clipper unit and falls out. I'm getting a free replacement of the comb which is due in two weeks time. All the reviews about this comb are pretty bad.Otherwise I would give the clipper a 5 star rating.

Good, but a design fault and ongoing comb problemsI’ve been using the QC5570 for over a month now.
I like the quality of Philips products. I’ve been using their wet/dry shavers for many years – other than a brief flirtation with another make, which shaved well – but the battery died suddenly not long after the warranty expired. I’m back with Philips shavers again.
I have two issues with the QC5570:
Firstly, I used a QC5170 for more than 6 years. This is a great little trimmer, that I would still be using if it wasn’t for the comb problem. The plastic combs are somewhat fragile. When mine needed to be changed, I discovered that Philips had made them obsolete. Contacting both Philips & their official spare part partner wasn’t particularly helpful. Not prepared to pay a King’s ransom on eBay for a comb (the only place I can now locate them), I struggled on with the broken comb. When my comb became more araldite than original plastic, I knew that it was time for a reluctant change.
Having researched options, & wanting to stick with cordless, I settled on the QC5570. A search of both the Philips and Partmaster websites show that original combs for this model are also “no longer available”. I’ve taken the precaution of purchasing 2 spares from a third-party supplier before buying the trimmer. I also think that the trimmer’s RRP is a bit steep, & was able to secure one at half-price, which seems a more reasonable price.
The second issue is a design fault. At first glance, the trim-length adjustment seemed better on the QC5570 than the QC5170. My opinion reversed after a couple of uses. To achieve an even hair trim, you have to apply a certain amount of pressure (never an issue with the QC5170). The problem with the QC5570 is that if you press too hard, the setting can “slip”. i.e. When you are trimming at 7mm, it’s a good idea to keep checking the setting, as you suddenly find that it’s moved to 5mm.
Overall, I like using the Philips cordless hair-trimmers. I just wish that support (particularly after-sales) was better.

A significant improvement on its predecessor. This version is more robust than the previous one. It is easier to handle and control and seems to have a better battery.

attachments poor designI have now bought 2 of these as I cannot replace the comb which for the second time one of the clip lugs has broken, thus not holding the comb in place.
